Batting order for Small-Ball archetype
-
OK SDS... this is an easy one to fix. I like to take the "Small-Ball" option and try to build my guy up over time. However, he always ends up hitting 3rd, with power down in the 20's and speed in the mid 90's. There should be code that places a Small Ball option at either 1st in the order or somewhere 7th or 8th (or 9th in the AL). It's silly that I just got moved up to the MLB and I'm hitting 3rd for the Rockies (Trevor Story was injured and I'm batting in front of Arenado). I'm the only player on the team that can't even reach the warning track

Yeah, the computer generated lineups are usually pretty bad. I like your idea of having one’s player bat in the order based on their archetype. Small ball and Mr. Utility could bat top or bottom. Pure Power, Anomaly, and Rock Steady could bat 3-6. It’d be a fairly simple system that shouldn’t be too hard to implement. But, I’m not a game developer...

How are you hitting compared to the rest of the team? I'm also playing a small-ball archetype (still in AAA) and they started me for a while as 1st hitter but now I'm hitting .500 and lead my team in RBI, so I'm hitting third. Yes, I don't hit many HRs but a lot of doubles and especially triples, so I guess the AI skipper is not completely wrong in having me bat third

That's strange. I've reached a point with my guy where I bounce between 1st or 3rd in the lineup, but that didn't start until I got my power into at least the 50's. All I can tell you is hang in there and just try to do your job when your number is called. Try not to let where you are in the lineup throw you off. Be thankful you are trusted to be hitting 3. Have you looked at who hits lead off when you don't? It might make more sense then.
