Would you rather have one player as the cover athlete or the previous season's WS winners?

One player.
Using the Angels/Ohtani as an example.
I love watching Ohtani, I'm a big fan of his and he is easy to root for. I have no such attachments to the Angels as a whole and would feel nothing if I saw them on the cover. Most people outside of Braves fans would feel no attachment seeing the team on the cover, but seeing Acuna, who a lot of people love would bring out more positive emotion

For me they could skip the cover athlete all together. They could put a Bat, ball and glove on the cover and I would be fine. They could show a stadium on the cover and I would be fine.
Seeing as how all the sports games do cover athletes I assume there is some data to show that it sells more units with athletes.

If they were to create a player-specific program for Cover Guy (like 2017), then who Cover Guy was would matter. If not…

For all we know it could be Jeter, that would definitely make people buy 2022. That's if Jeter is added next year and I do understand that is a big if.

I could care less about the cover athlete but when they announced they would donate to the Jackie Robinson foundation for every deluxe edition sold, I preordered right away and got the tin box with Jackie on it. Unless they are going to give away a 99 for the cover player (like they did with Judge) or donate to a good charity, it doesn’t matter to me.
