Well, I think you mean when they do their little bat wave over the plate right? Practice swing is done on on deck circle mostly. Short answer is probably because it ads nothing to the game. It doesnt make you hit better. Before a player could do his little traditional bat wave one time per AB, and then after that the pitchers motion would cancel it. I personally think they should have kept the bat wave and allowed a pitchers motion to cancel it anytime. Because in real life a pitcher isnt gonna wait for a hitter to do his little wave and then pitch. But they just got rid of it completely probably mainly because of the first thing I mentioned. Doesnt really add much to the game.

Imagine how much longer a RS game would be if you had to wait for armchair Nomar to practice swing between every pitch and having to wait for that animation to finish before you could pitch. No thanks.

Because people used to do it before every single pitch and it would drag out the games

Because it was abused by little toxic Timmies and Jimmies to disrupt the flow of the game. I certainly don’t miss it

In real life the pitcher almost always waits for the batter to get set and even do their little bat wave. Most of the time the pitcher is set and while the batter is getting settled they are looking to the catcher for the pitch call. So in a way it’s almost timed to balance one another out.

Now umps can get involved if they feel the batter or pitcher are abusing this. But generally a small amount of time is allowed to the batter to do their traditional pre pitch rituals.

In the show quick pitching is a thing. It’s allowed and the only way a batter can slow it down is by r2 which just upsets everyone. I’d say add a small bat wave to online but that’d get abused and become toxic. People will use an exploit to gain the slightest edge. It ruins it for people trying to play straight up with out malice intent.
