Didn't realize that when the game 'forces' you to being in a relief pitcher; because you pinch hit with the other pitcher, that if you exit out, by mistake, BEFORE you pick the pitcher; you need to pitch at least 3 batters with your hitter.

I thought you could jump back in if you didn't select a reliever and didn't throw a pitch.

Once you back out of the menu you are essentially saying you are ready and taking the field. So whatever player you have taking the field has to face 3 batters.
