It's like ANY fly ball hit in the OF will be run down & caught regardless which Outfielder is used & what's their speed. It has to be a low hard hit line drive into the gaps or down the lines for an Outfielder not to get to it for an out. Or if a fly ball, it has to be a soaring bullet heading to hit off the wall before the Outfielder can get to it. Previous years OF defense was more realistic with speed attributes & with what is reachable or not for an out. I made so many catches in the OF this year that I never would have made in previous years of MLBTS. But the coin goes both ways. So frustrating when hitting stuff to the OF that will easily be a hit in ANY real game & instead is track down & caught.

Just something else SDS screwed up this year with them thinking it would be better & is actually NOT. SDS always wants to fix what is NOT broken instead of fixing what was actually broken & needing to be fixed.

"Our outfielders aren't catching the ball!"

    To

    "Our outfielders are catching everything!"

    In literally one year.

You may have thought outfield defense in terms of catching was fine last year, but plenty of people complained about urgency and first steps etc etc.

I'm talking overall with 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 & 15 (15 was 1st year I began with MLBTS because EA was not doing Baseball anymore for Xbox) Each of those years OF defense was more realistic in regards to who can get to what with where & how it was hit. This year it's like EVERYTHING can be tracked down & caught regardless who is being used & where the fly ball is being hit to. I see it with every play I make myself when playing defense & how they are also tracking them down when I am on the Offense. It is literally UNREAL !!!!

I will give the game credit for not making my outfielders brain dead this year. They would do the stupidest things and mess up easy plays. They're good for me until a patch ruins it all lol

I guess you are right. It is "literally unreal" since it is a video game.

Aside from basically everybody having three outfielders with 90+ speed, 90+ fielding, and 90+ reaction, the player models are just too big compared to the field.

I think there needs to be a balance, not from one extreme to the other. A great real life example was Mookie not being able to get to the ball in center field in game two of the championship series. It's simply unrealistic to believe that you can just run down everything in the outfield, regardless of speed rating.
