Is extra innings fun? I'm hitting the wall with ranked and looking for something else in the game.

It's not fun really. It's just vs CPU with other players DD teams. So no. Well, unless u like mindless CPU grinding? In that case it's the bee's knees

If you're a mindless online player, it may not be fun. Other than that, it is what you make of it. You can make it challenging by playing on higher difficulties against better teams or you could rack PXP for some players and play on lower difficulties with lesser teams or you can go somewhere in the middle. Try it out and see what you think.
You can use Extra Innings to "warm-up" before play RS, Events, or BR and just do one each day. Before you know it, you'll have those Extra Inning missions done and will have collected those Inning XP points. Also, there is no annoying R2 pauses, bunt dancing, other cheesy play, no lag, no rude comments by the other player, no freeze offs, and no everything-else-that-makes-online-H2H-horrible gameplay.
However, if you listen to mindless online only players who are jeerks who put down people who don't play the game the same way they do, you will become a mindless player yourself.

It is my preferred offline mode....I would much rather play other DD teams than MLB teams. Much better than conquest also, because it is 9 innings. Another thing I really like about Extra Innings is that you can work into an opponents bullpen rather than face the starter for all nine innings. I wish there was something like season based Extra Innings mode instead of conquest. I would prefer to play games than simulate hexagons.

I primarily play online, but I'm glad they started using it for offline mission goals. It's still the CPU, but at least you're not stuck playing against bronze and silver live series cards in October. I think 5 games per inning program is about right.

It is fun on HOF and Legend. The CPU will punish mistake pitches making it more challenging.
