I agree with you
If you had to pick 1 card that the majority of the player base looks forward to each year, casual or hardcore, is Griffey
You have to release him at a point where he can be used for at least a month or two for casuals, and a long time for dedicated players
All other cards can be rotated yearly. The 99 Griffey needs to be released yearly before September/October, period.
Um I have used Griffey pretty much all year,
Used his 88 to start the year
Then switched to his 96
Took a break to try out some other cards
Will gladly welcome is 99 home
To many people hang their hat on a 99 card and miss what is right in front of them
To piggyback off this... ratings are just a number. The difference between a 96 and 99 might not make a huge difference. I use the 97 overall Eduardo Escobar. Love the card and it’s versatility.
I think we all are anticipating a 99 Griffey, but he’s had decent cards and he’s probably being held back to keep everyone’s interest in the game that are still playing.
I still can't wait when its revealed as a milestone and is a Reds card and everyone waiting for a 99 Griffey complain cause it's not a Mariners card and say it's an L
I will die laughing if they did this... Would be hysterical.
Really? You would die laughing? Would it really be that funny? Who cares.

I want it so bad because you know it will cause a fire storm and this forum will lose its mind
I have a bag of quick pop popcorn ready for that day!!!

IIRC he was the 10th inning boss last year. They do need to hold some big names for later in the year as the baseball season ends to try and keep engagement. This is why we don't have 99 Griffey & Babe yet.

If he’s an extreme pull hitter, I am not interested, in ‘19 all I did was hit line drives into the shift with him . I am quite happy with Sig Cutch, his swing is just too sweet.

But everyone who was alive in the 90s and early 2000s favorite player has a 96 overall (that isn't even usable) at this point in the year.
WE
WANT
GRIFFEY!Just because a card isn't a 99; it doesn't mean it's not usable.
Besides, it should be the skill of the person on the controller, not the rating of the card, that matters.
This completely misses the point. Of course it's the skill of the person on the controller!
But it's that COMBINED with the card's attributes/quirks!
I'm on OP's side on this one. I started playing the Show right after TA3 was released. So at no point since I started playing has there been a top Griffey card for me to use.
I have tried the 96 Griffey enough to know how much I love his swing, but also clearly see he doesn't match up with other current options.
Like imagine using the 96 Griffey over the 99 Bellinger. Not happening.

I can imagine it. I switch my lineups everyday and use a ton of different players, 96 Griffey being one of them. I get it, if you're playing at a high level online you would take Bellinger. But that is just one fraction of the game. I just don't get the people who have one God Squad. This game would bore me to tears if I used one lineup of Meta cards.

My 96 Griffey is a 99, personally prefer his swing over Bellingers, find Bellingers swing to be to long for my liking and at 500k, I’ll take the Mick or Griffey.
