I hate adding 99s and having them play so bad, I go back to the card I had success with. I change a player batting .300 and 30 home runs for the same player starting at .000 0 home runs. That alone seems stupid, but it is stupid when that 99 player can't match the numbers of the lower rated version. What's the point of having ratings, if they're meaningless?

There’s plenty of other factors outside of just ratings.

Depending on when you used the lower rated version, pitching could’ve been worse. People tend to pitch more carefully to 99 overall players than to lower players as well. You also have to account for the mental aspect of it all. You could’ve been pushing a little too hard with the 99 instead of having the same approach as you did with the lower one. If you started out bad with the 99, you likely kept thinking about how bad you were doing with it, which just led to you doing even worse.

If all other factors are nonexistent, then the 99 will absolutely be better than the lower one, assuming attributes are better across the board and the 99 has the same swing.

Well put. I definitely tend to press with a brand new 99, especially when my expectations are through the roof (i.e. Frank Thomas, Jackie, etc.) Once I start hitting with them, it's on.
