Does this actually do anything of is it just there for cosmetic reasons?
Just had to report someone for toxic play, along with asking me to boost/sending vulgar replies back; when I declined to answer.
So, I'm just wondering if anything is going to be done about this or if it's just a waste of time?
no, top 5 have been reported via support as well as the griefing option and nothing has been done about the constant cheating
Not sure what you have provided proves these gamers are cheating. What do you see that leads you to believe that they are cheating. And saying that it’s their record is proof is certainly not proof.
I played Griffey-JR_GOAT who is the Number 2 rated and I was no hitting him through 3 innings and all of a sudden it froze after I got a hit. They probably expected me to quit but I left my system on and they eventually quit after 18 hours. They are definitely cheating.
dude is clueless, my primary mode and telling me whats going on and how its play now vs cpu lmao

I understand the fuss about the 'cheating'; but why does it really matter?
It's not like being #1, or even in the Top 5, of the Online Rated Leaderboards is going to do anything for you in real life?
Nobody ever told me that I wasn't able to get a job, get a loan, etc; because I wasn't ranked in the Top 5 of MLB The Shows Online Rated leaderboard.

Just trying to figure out why people make a big fuss about stuff, in a video game, that has no bearing on real world issues.
But I can see what you mean. In sure if it was a big issue; SDS would've rectified it by now.

same guys have been doing it for years, not sure why SDS refuses to acknowledge it

You make it sound like they can do something about it. Unless they are in the lobby when it happens it’s pointless because there is no way to prove it. Sure there is a pattern and logical conclusion can be made however if they can’t actively prove the connection is being tampered with, like running a packet analyzer, than it’s a moot point and can leave SDS in legal trouble if they take action without hard proof. Now if you are tech savvy enough you can run a packet analyzer on your own and if it happens to you you can send the info in to SDS enforcement or PSN enforcement. But if you do this you actually are violating their TOS by exposing their IP address which is a prohibited practice but you will catch the perpetrator Red handed. SDS and PSN can ban you for this as well. But they will at least have the proof they need to act against those guys.

-

Uhhhh they can’t just console ban without having hard proof. Hard proof would be the feedback from a packet analyzer such as Cain and Able or Wireshark or any of the hundreds of other IT tools out there that can detect connection anomalies. Hard proof is not someone’s online record and a history of disconnects. Like I said before you can come to a logical conclusion that something nefarious is going on but a logical assumption doesn’t hold up in court. It’s what they call circumstantial evidence which is not legally binding and can expose SDS to all sorts of legal action if they take action with no hard evidence. That is why they can’t do anything about it. So if you want to nail these cheats you have to beat them at their own game and skirt the TOS agreements to catch them in the act. You have to do legally grey things such as exposing their IP address to monitor their connection. Now if you work for a company’s IT team those programs might be legal but using these tools for the purpose of gaming is going to land you in hot water with Sony and SDS but it’s the only way to prove what they are doing is cheating. It’s that simple.
