It’s HOF from 700 to 900. Eventually you will master HOF speeds and it will be easier to hit 102mph, challenging but easier, you just got to keep playing.

It is not dynamic difficulty, 700-899 is HOF, 800 sees no increase on pitch speed

Dont do this. Unless you are a PC gamer playing games at super high refresh rate 1080P gaming.

After a long while, I'm now able to hit hof fastball. I still need to anticipate it (can't react) but I went from 2-3 hits/game to 10 in the last week.

When I start anticipating pitches I’m screwed. I try to react to everything even on Legend. I was in the same place you were tho. It really just comes down to seeing faster pitches. Whether that’s playing conquest on Legend, extra innings games on legend, and one of my favorites is downloading/editing a roster full of typical pitchers in DD, juice up their stats, then make a team full of guys you use in your lineup (I like to drop their contact to 50 to make the PCI even smaller) turn up the fastball sliders all the way up then head to practice mode on legend

I realize many of you on this forum may find this post laughable, but please bear with me as it is my first year ever playing MLB the Show. I usually stick to BR, but lately I have been getting more into Ranked Seasons. Recently, I hit 800 ELO and faced DeGromm in my first game at this level.
Long story short, when I was at the plate I looked like Hellen Keller trying to hit a Randy Johnson heater. I could not catch up to his fastball in the 5 innings if I wasn’t sitting on it, and even when I was, I was still “just late.” The problem is, once I locked into the fastball, I lost all plate discipline and was swinging at breaking balls 2ft outside of the zone.
I don’t understand how someone can react that quickly to a pitch if they are not waiting for it— is there a tip for reading a FB vs a breaking ball upon release? Or do some people actually react to the flight path that quickly?

SDS or people on here won't admit it but there is a huge difference in pitch speeds due to connection issues with this game. One game you can be early on 102, very next you are late on 94. The games you are early on 102, the people that are 300-20 have these games every time. I call it magic internet (Forrest Gump voice). Seems like you need to live fairly close to one of the servers to get this slow pitch softball magic internet.

700-899 is HOF
900+ is legend
You play on the higher difficulty between you and your opponent. If you are 750 but your opponent is 910, the game will be on legend. If you are 750 and your opponent is 650, the game will be on HOF. -

Read patterns. When you think it’s coming trust that it is or you’ll be late. Try to not swing at anything else or you’ll flail.

Sit inside with the pci (low mid or high based on opponent tendencies) then react on away fastballs. I find the reaction delay to be enough to hit the ball the other way. Try to ID the pitch out of the hand - there are YouTube videos on this. You can still get fooled by changeups and cutters but that's what makes it a challenge!
