Cy Young

I'm excited. I enjoy the old school players because it's variety. You're right, I probably wouldn't use him online. But not everyone does DD just to play at HOF level. Some enjoy creating different teams to play our friends or for Team Affinity, conquests or any other program that may be applicable. I agree, Koufax (who also had a pretty long windup) or Big Unit would be amazing. But if they dont have the rights, they have to use who they have. I think this year has been great in terms of variety.
Ps: It's a free 99 card.

Agree. Name another 99 that is worse than Cy????????????????????
-
But I do appreciate your screen name bob_loblaw. Great show.

Worse than Cy in terms of long windup? Christy Mathewson?

Who cares. Its daily moments, not a World Series reward. Last year he was pennant race and the year before he was like an after postseason event or something. I don't see the issue on bad cards being easy to acquire

Or they could make him good… They always nerf legend pitchers for some reason.
They made him throw 98 which is laughable to say the least. I get your point tho. It’s a shame that Kevin Gausman has higher H/9 than Pedro haha

Guy never even won his own award
He never started in the all star game either. Overrated.
Uuuuhhhh he never went to an All Star game because he retired in 1911. The first All Star game was played in 1933. I’m trying to figure out if this was a joke or were you serious?

I agree. People can just opt to not use him. I also dont see why this is automatically deemed a bad card just because he doesn't fit the mold for a small percentage of people who only care about their god squad top 26. So just don't use him.
I like the the classic players and no I'm not trolling. I agree, all the old guys windups are painfully long. He wouldn't be my top choice but I could still be effective with him. And again, collections are a huge part of this game, not just the rewards you get or the players you unlock, but having a variety of current and historical players to use to differentiate your team. Imagine how boring this game would be if we all had the same 9 players. That's what it feels like for a portion of the online community who seem to think they have magically uncovered the best 9 players that nobody else has. I hate to break it to you, but most of us have the same cards: Jackie, Mookie, Rivera, Vlad Sr., Mike Piazza, Harper, Chipper, Degrom etc. It makes the game so much more fun the more variety you have.
In short, just dont use him if you don't like him, but dont dismiss him and say "nobody uses him" . Speak for yourself. I'll use him.

I'm hoping it was a joke as it was preceded by someone saying he never won his own award which I'm also hoping is a joke.

Def 2nd highest war of Ps ever and 511 wins but funny cause K/9 was mind boggling
Some Yankee fans I talked to the other day would swear by that WAR stuff.

Maybe you would have preferred another Cedric Mullins card.
-
Throw it on the "Not many people will use this card but it's another (fill in the card series here) for collections" pile. That pile is growing rapidly lately.
Hopefully TA4 will be a banger.

He was an inning boss a few years ago. 1st inning I believe, with Andruw and Goose.
-
He might not be the most effective but will make my Red Sox theme team rotation and be fun to use.

I'm talking his 99. That was a 91 or something

Not surprised to see the outrage over this card but I think its unwarranted.
If you can pitch well in this game this card should be useful. He has masterful control and super high break on all those pitches. People flail at the offspeed stuff this year like crazy. Plus that 98mph FB will look like 105 if you mix it in correctly
-
I like Cy Young. Not sure why anybody would ask for less variety and fewer cards.

If his presence in the game doesn’t have an opportunity cost for other players’ rights I’m cool with it. If it does, he’s first to go IMO.
I miss other players that they no longer have rights to like Omar Vizquel, Black Jack McDowell, Albert Belle, Yogi, etc.
I wouldn’t miss Cy. That’s all I’m saying.
