Get a better team to beat the same AI teams, conquests, etc. How is that any different than getting a better team to face the same lineups and either Cabrera or deGrom every game?
I dabble in online occasionally but I stick mainly to offline or unranked matches against friends. People can play how they want, I don’t see people getting ragged on for being strictly a franchise or RttS player.

The OP was most likely not referring to RTTS or Franchise mode players. He was wondering why someone would spend so much time in DD, collecting cards, and not use them in online H2H.

Who on earth said DD was meant to be online? lol
Online is full of pay to win cheesers and I'd rather not have to worry about if I'm going to get a decent opponent.
As someone else stated, for me my time is limited with having a full time job, wife, and two kids. Not to mention God forbid I may actually want to play another game occasionally. It takes most of my gaming time to keep up with all the offline content so I have absolutely no reason to subject myself to all the complaints people have about online opponents.
This is like the epitome of what SDS is trying to accomplish. Most of your time is spent on content and content is irrelevant to offline players. You could have used any player the day the game came out as much as you wanted. Quite literally every mission and moment you “accomplished” was wasted time and energy. You could just be playing the game with the player you are trying to earn, or one of the other games you enjoy.
I’m sure SDS has a term for the boomers that are to stupid to dodge the online DD content but will never know, they don’t even tell us what quirks do.

I seen a lot of posts of "oh I only play offline, and how can this program be done offline..."
I just don't get this concept. DD is meant to be online. I don't play RS often but do dive into BR and def a lot of Events.
If you are playing offline, what's the fun? to get a better team to beat the same missions, conquest or vs CPU all over again???
I'm just not understanding playing ONLY offline and never wanting to play vs people even if it can be toxic players online ie bunt dances pausing etc. For the most part the players you face online play fair and it's really not hard to get some wins in an event or stats to complete the programs.
Not sure why it matters? I'm sure they feel the same about online players. Different strokes for different folks. You should be glad every one doesn't always share the same opinions.
I only started online a few years ago but I see both sides. Sometimes I enjoy playing the computer on Rookie essentially to.have a HR derby. Less stressful than online play.

You also have to pay to play online. PS Plus is not worth it if you hardly ever play online.

Agreed, only playing offline is just wimpy. Like sitting down to pee

"meant for online". DD has had vs cpu and vs ppl content in every year of its existence, and as the years have gone by it has gotten more friendly to the vs cpu only crowd. This debate has raged for a long time now and players have said this onljne purpose, but i never recall a dev saying anything one way or another, and recently they have been saying play how you want.which would seem to indicate that it is meant for both(and always has been)
Exactly this. SDS will be fully aware or the player base who play online or offline and will adjust accordingly.
I do wonder though if they make more money from online as opposed to offline with stubs purchases though. I’d probably lean towards online as the competitive edge.
As a counterpoint, I suspect a lot of the collectors gravitate more toward offline content. They are also most likely big drivers of revenue.

The reason I play offline is because my internet can’t establish a strong enough connection to play games online. It’s laggy, the baseball is a yo-yo on the way to home plate. When it’s hit it will show the opponent not moving their players so I turn to run towards second and all of a sudden the players teleport to the ball and I get thrown out. Among that, I’ve heard a lot of people, a lot, complain about how playing against other people kinda sucks because it is really frustrating when you throw pitches 6 inches off the plate and they take the pitch deep. I’ve seen the complaints about swing mechanics and player ability being nerfed and so even if I had the ability to play online, I would avoid it because I play video games to enjoy my time. Not get frustrated -

Not get frustratedYou pretty much nailed it. While I’m hardwired, there’s nothing stopping me from being a [censored] and setting up a WiFi connection or a mobile hotspot to make it miserable to other players which I wouldn’t be surprised if many already do that for that purpose. I don’t want to be playing against other people. I’m on this forum all the time and read about all the trolling things people do online including but not limited to R2 holding, bunt dancing, abusing the pause timer, freeze glitches and so on. There are plenty of ways I’ve read over the months of how to make the game miserable for others online and I want nothing to do with it but if I am forced to play online at some point, I will pretty much make it as fun for them as it is for me. After all, misery loves company.

Definitely offline. Why?
Because it's real baseball. Also you get a world series champion. You can adjust sliders to make it more or less competitive. Oh and the AI does not have a hissy fit and quit when down a few runs. -
Not to mention I get a league full of all the legends. Unlike fools online who have to spend real money or 60 hours per week to play and get enough coins. It's so sad to see kids fall victim to this and not enjoy the beautiful game simulation style

I have nothing against offline players, I'm probably split about 50/50 between both modes, but this is a pretty bad take. You don't need to spend money or spend 60 hours a week to enjoy or succeed online. I've done neither and I've had much success and enjoyment playing online.
Plus, seems like you're talking about franchise, which is a completely different mode from DD. This thread is talking about the difference between online and offline play within DD specifically, not franchise.

I completely agree with you. I play offline DD, so I can play with the legends. I do not spend 60 hours a week playing and didn't spend a dime. Do I have every card, no, but I don't want every card. I have the ones I do want.
