I feel the same about playing people on PS4/XB1. I wish I could only play next gen players. Load times on the PS5 are crazy quick but I still have to experience the long load times and reduced framerates every time I play someone on an old console.
You can. Use custom stadiums. If you select a custom stadium, you will only match up with Xbox Series or PS5 players every single time, even if you are the away team. If you don't want to play in a custom stadium, you have to hope you are the away team (and that your opponent hasn't selected one) or you can play against PS4 Xbox One users.

Whaaaa!? Are you sure because when I select a custom stadium, it will fail 2-3 times before I get to the pitcher screen. I figured it was failing because I was the home team and matched with a prev. gen player. So it drums up a complete queue of only next gen players?

That's right. If you're having trouble getting custom stadiums to work, go into the editor and reupload them. I think there was an issue a while back and that was the fix.

I notice absolutely no difference in the game's performance regardless of what stadium I'm in. Get better internet.

Congrats on sounding like a fool. FPS drops have nothing to do with internet connectivity. It’s also a well documented problem with older generation consoles. Your opinion on that matter only reinforces the first sentence of this response. You’re better off riding the pine instead of sounding like a dolt any further.

do you guys find field of dreams laggy?
I don’t actually have any issues with FoD. It’s parks that tend to have a lot going on like Minute Maid. Parks like Dodger Stadium, Coors, and New York I’ve run into and have minimal FPS drops.
I wonder how much could be solved by simply having a an option to turn off the crowds.

On previous gen consoles there is lag. Even offline.

As long as we can use this option to not play at Shippett as well.

Turn fans off. Do something. Do anything. It’s so bad.
I don't think MLB stadiums play bad at all. I actually prefer playing at any MLB stadium instead of playing at cheesy Shippett.

I'm on a previous gen console and I don't notice any difference. If there is lag, it's not significant enough to negatively impact me no matter what stadium I'm in. I play wherever I want and I've never had any issues.

I had it bad on ps5 when the oppo selected the Braves stadium.
I tried to friendly after my ABs because the lag was unreal. The guy refused.
He then had his half inning and then offered the friendly
I notice stadiums play better at night too.

Dude. I downloaded an awesome stadium last night and used it in a RS game and a handful of BR games. Zero noticeable frame drops or even general lag on pitches, baserunning or fielding. Obviously this is a small sample size but if this works long-term, it makes the game boatloads better for next gen players! Thank you!

Glad that worked for you. There is a Sandlot themed stadium if you haven't already found it. I think you can pull it up by searching Kasabe, and I'm sure there are plenty of other variations.
