I don't wanna ruin it for you but a 13 PCI placement indicates you got either underneath it or on top of it, or maybe even off the end of the barrel. So it would kinda make sense to see an exit velocity drop on a 13 PCI rating.

Now I already what people are gonna say in response to this. "Well how come guys hit no doubters with 10 or 11 PCI placement?!". I don't know the answer to that either.

I hit a HR this morning which was embarrassing.

My pci literally missed ball. So far in fact the contact was between the inner and outer PCI

    Sorry other guy.

Yes some guy hit a game winner on me with that BS a week ago. Literally tons of space in between his PCI and the ball yet it still rated it a PCI 11 or 12 which really pissed me off. Should be a zero and should be a pop up to the catcher 1000000% of the time. And I can honestly say I never benefit from these on my end.

I’m pretty sure they’ve said on streams that PCI is not the same as where the barrel of the bat goes. So I’m not entirely sure what that PCI rating really tells you. Seems like it only exists to make people mad.

What isn’t being given here is what the pitch release was because that has a major impact on the outcome.

PCI is supposed to be the sweet spot of the bat.. which is why the better you square up the louder it sounds. There are times when it being on the edge of the PCI makes sense (such as when the pitch is down and in and on the left upper edge of your PCI because you’re golfing it out) but when you totally miss the ball with you’re PCI that should NEVER be a hit.

That’s the thing I think they have expressly said that it not the sweet spot of the bat. It’s a Plate Coverage Indicator, whatever that means. But that was from a stream a couple years ago if memory serves so maybe they changed it I don’t know.
