How much does power stat affect hitting?

I know nobody really has the answer, its just opinion but if you have contact makin the pci bigger to hit something an vision helps for foulin off balls, it make me wonder wtf power really does. If billy Hamilton, degrom, alomar can be popping hrs (not even touching yellow sometimes) off leiter an vida blue just like someone with 125 pwr then why do we really care what card we use.
Idk it gets me aggravated when a low pwr guy homers and then you perfect time a changeup with 125 pwr guy vs a crappier pitcher and you just fly out.
