You can do online franchise with DD Custom teams for as few as one human player and have 29 CPU controlled custom teams with DD players in your inventory. Been creating franchise type custom DD leagues since leagues came out .Check my activities page ill post some Custom Created team shots . There are also full Custom Creations league videos there .Quite interesting
Leagues are a shell of Franchise. There is no AA/AAA development, you have no control over your 40 man roster, and you can't make any real reasonable trades.

Do absolutely nothing about it.
Or you'll get addicted to DD like the rest of these mooks.
I have zero interest in playing All Star team vs All Star team all the time … Franchise will always be where it’s at!!
Hey, I'm with ya, but SDS keeps neglecting Franchise a little more each year.

May need to switch to Battlefield. 2042 actually sounds like it’s going to be epic.
Way ahead of you. With Portal, 2042 sounds like its going to be the best first person shooter to ever exist.
My thoughts exactly - I was actually going to give BF a miss for the first time (been playing since Bad Company 1). Portal completely sold me. Hopefully they will do a good job and the community will keep it alive.
Now if only there were a new Portal game. Portal 2 is my favourite all time game.

All true but I was only talking about the best way to do a franchise with custom teams Offline franchise with good settings is definitely, in my opinion the way the die hard honest ballplayer goes . Since introduced to playing internet I havent played franchise since 16

Not even worth it imo. Playing vs CPU is extremely boring.

I've tried DD but still prefer Franchise.

I create lineups from my player inventory when you quit a team in league whatever roster you set up stays behind , So ou can actually keep joining set up lineup ,rotation, bullpen batting order bench everything with good Diamond gold or whatever players you want . Just quit come back join different team do same thing til you got all teams filled . All you need is a rin o someone else who wants to play it to stand in as commissioner til you done Last team you join as of course is who you wanna be All you doing is wearihg a mlb teams uniform anyway CPU will be controlling all non human rosters you set up with 90 plus ,80 plus players and you got online franchise there Fill CPu teams with all the best players like Ohtani , Griffey and the like and trust me ,You wont be bored . You be fighting to play 500 ball if you set your difficulty right Only a few details will be unalterable Minor leagues wont exist and trading etc Better off having none in this type league And you always home team playing CPU But all the teams are custom and they always show up and you can rplace them with a human controlled DD team anytime a human joins Their lineup overwrites CPU Easier to do than explainn For sure But it works Ive created quite a few
-
Its hard to get 30 players together if you was giving away breakfast
-
And of course cheeseball will be useless against a 90 plus CPU controlled team so leave that [censored] in your romper room locker
-
It's not just as simple as bringing online franchise back. It was an absolute dumpster fire when it was here. I don't even know if they would be willing to put enough effort into it to make it worthwhile.

SDS has always done a good job making the CPU a challenge… I enjoy playing on the higher levels vs the CPU …
