Calling out a rookie for 'making a mistake and facing the consequences in our clubhouse' for swinging on 3-0 and then defending the other team when they throw at him (it's ok, said TLR, because it wasn't at his head) sounds like a contributing factor. Yermin Mercedes is one of those players who can remind us that baseball is actually supposed to be fun. TLR has never given me those vibes.

I don’t think TLR gets paid so the players have fun.... his team is up 9.5 games in division I would say GM and owner happy with choice

probably, but I personally don't give a rat's about that. Even if it were my team involved, I'd be proud if the brass stuck up for their own players and gave the two fingers to the other teams instead of praising their tactics for the sake of the dumbest of the unwritten rules.

He was one of the early delights/surprises of the early '21 The Show days, when we still had at least 40% Golds in our lineups.
There are times when I look down at his P3 card, and I get misty eyed 🤣 and I say a silent 'thank you,' inside the way we do silent prayers.
How many times in April or May that we leapt from our seats/ gaming chairs, or if you sit on the floor while playing, stood up and asked: 'He hit ANOTHER???'
I had him back in briefly while doing AL Central TA3, and he never missed a beat.
He will go down in the annals of Show lore. I see statues built, etc.
Thank you, Yerminator for your service, brova!!
    Happy trails. 😭

So ud rather the brass stick up for players than win?

People struggle to define emotional intelligence. This is a great example of not having a high degree of it for Yermin. If he acts out like this publicly, what does he do behind clubhouse doors? Thanks for the great Topps Now card, and have a good life.

Why are they mutually exclusive? Does a team have better cohesion overall if the manager isn't taking potshots at his own players and backing the other team? For me this issue isn't about Ws and Ls. Those happen regardless. This is about deeper team culture. Some teams can win in ugly ways, or with ugly elements, and I guess that's fine if winning is the only thing that matters. For me, winning isn't the only thing that matters. It does matter, don't think I'm not saying so, but there's more.

Reinsdorf has often been a [censored] with hiring coaches. Winning is covering up a lot of the LaDouchebag mess so far and I give the credit to their pitching, not their cancer of a manager.

What the people who defend TLR don't realize is that while he may be winning through being a douche now when things fall apart it's gonna get real ugly and none of the players are gonna want to hear anything he says. I'm with you, I'd rather have the coach and GM have the players backs and not defend some BS unwritten rule

So they are talking about this story rn on Chicago sports radio and hopefully it isn't as ominous as they are worried it could/might be. Nobody including family has seen Yermin since the post. Apparently his tweet was lyrics to a song called Yo Retiro which is apparently a pretty depressing song. Chicago media who was close with him his whole career can't get in contact with him. Fwiw the people on the radio are also confused as to why he retired because he clearly is talented enough to make a roster and he was mashing in AAA during his send down. 670 The Score on audacy if anyone is interested.
