It's great to see a good Negro Leagues player in The Show, but maybe someone could help me with this question...
Where are the true Negro League greats like Cool Papa Bell, Josh Gibson, and Satchel Paige?
The players who Ty Cobb said were as good or better than their white counterparts?
Is it a license issue?(Historical note: Not only did Cobb advocate integration years before it was trendy, but he attended, often threw out the first pitch, and hung out with teams at Negro League games. Not exactly the frothing racist he was accused of being. Amazing what one biography by a drunken idiot-- Al Stump-- can permanently do to a players reputation)

Likely comes down to Licensing and in the cases of the names you mentioned the likely hood they have representatives for their estate to negotiate a deal for use in a game is very unlikely.

It always comes down to licensing. Irvin also played 8 or 9 years in the National League.

Love this post man I’ve been lobbying for Negro league players too. Josh Gibson Paiges Cool papa Bell???? Man what is do for those guys. Give me a Roy Campanella too

The MLB just recently recognized the Negro leagues as a part of them. So hopefully in the near future they can work on getting some rights

good question, idk how they can say they support BLM, etc, when they repeatedly overlook some of the best baseball players ever just because they didn't play in the all-white baseball league in the 1920s

Well it doesn't have to be their fault that these players aren't present in the game. If these players or their families don't want to agree on some sort of licensing deal, then they're not gonna be in the game despite all the good intentions.

they've gotten the rights to probably a hundred plus ex-MLB players over the years, i highly doubt there isnt a single negro league player they can get the rights to, instead it points to a lack of desire

Would love to see something highlighting them, and the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City.
