Did they change base stealing?

I created a new RTTS player and the speed and steal stats are in the low 30s. I am not having any success in the current game. I noticed that the game no longer slows time when the pitcher tries to pick me off. Is the new norm or is there a setting that I need to adjust? If I try to take a slight lead, more often than not, the pitcher will try and pick me off. Trying to steal now feels more difficult than it used to in the previous game. I'm just checking in case I'm doing something wrong or if this is how the game is now

What is your archetype? Different archetypes have different speed. If your speed is only 30 then you will find it very difficult to steal.

If your on 1st base u still get a slow motion to let you know the pick off is coming but it's more subtle to see..When I was on 2nd and took a lead the pitcher just twisted and threw no warning and I was picked..Just gotta play the cat and mouse game and pick good counts to run in

It also matters whether you are “leaning” or not. Leaning definitely gets you to top speed faster but can make you vulnerable to the pick off. If you lean in the default lead there is time to get back in a pick off. Leaning plus an additional lead step is instant pick off death. You could try leaning in the standard lead and see if you have more success. I’ve had roughly a 70% success rate with a 40 rated runner in this manner.
