I believe the difficulty setting in conquest is true but I know what you mean. Lineout for 3 innings and have the CPU crank a no doubter on a good pitch and it’s over. Just the “excitement” of a 3-inning game
I believe the difficulty level in Conquest is accurate until it isn't myself.
For Godz Sake can't they fix this? Well, I'm not sure it's anything that's accidental. Prob some code that kicks in now and again (remember the purpose of DDA) to keep a player from being so successful they get bored.
I don't need to be tripped up in Conquest like that. Save that for RS. It's expected there.

@knoxwurst31_psn said in Again, can this be addressed:
Yeah it's pretty crazy how some games it's a nail biter and some games I win 7-0 on the same difficulty.
I know..right. If there was any consistent authenticity to difficulty levels that would never happen. It just wouldn't.
Sometimes I'll play on HOF, even Legend, just to capture a stronghold I'm at a 5-12 deficit or whatever to get through the map.
I'll win most every HOF game..about half the Legend. For the most part, the Stronghold attack games play out with the expected difficulty.
Not so with "Steal Fans". I swear I've had it set at Veteran before and lost. Absolutely nothing to do with my play..if that was the case I would NEVER win a HoF game, much less Legend. It's just a glitch, intentional or not, in this mode.
If it's not a known glitch..not intentional..I'm hoping by bringing attention to it..perhaps it can be fixed.
-
Extreme Conquest from last year -- I flunked nearly all the HOF steal fans games (I was following a streamer's guide to get through the map efficiently). However, I had no problem beating the Padres on Legend to win the map (a necessary game at that difficulty due to all the steal fans games I failed). My impression playing through that map is that the steal fans games play quite differently to the stronghold games. I've experienced the same feeling in conquest this year from time to time.
-
I feel it's more my mental state. If I'm tired, I'll just suck on every difficulty. If I play right after work, I'll murder the CPU on any difficulty. It also depends, I feel, if you are pitching your 5th starter or not. If you play against the CPU's 1st or 2nd starter, then I think the CPU forces bad luck on you. One game I'll win 1-0 and the next I'll beat them 12-0. Just doesn't play right sometimes.
-
The difficulty of conquest games honestly feels about the same to me as it does in a regular vs cpu game. It just seems harder sometimes because the 3 inning format means you get fewer at bats so the impact of every bad one is amplified.
Now showdown on the other hand, they're definitely tinkering with the difficulty of that mode to make things as annoying as possible.
-
I always steal on All-star and I can say I’ve never felt this way.
-
Maybe I'm nutz..actually I probably am, but this rant is not a byproduct. Maybe I'm to picky..maybe that's because I coded and tested for about 25 years and I, perhaps, see things others don't. I can't always explain a bug, but I know one when I see it.
I know it to be a thing. That simple. Not trying to win points, be popular (obviously not), suck up, toot my own horn, etc. I'm just certain I've found a very inconsistent behavior in an isolated part of the game. Of course, I'm not saying it may not be all over the place.
But, unequivocally..in "steal fans" in Conquest..the AI..way too often.. completely disregards your difficulty level and starts throwing all the familiar hi jinx in to guarantee you don't win.
You guys understand that, typically, in Conquest on All-Star you really have to screw up for the computer team to even get a hit. You almost have to leave one right over the plate a couple times in a row. In lower difficulty levels you can throw a pitch anywhere in the batter's box and it doesn't get hit anywhere but out.
So, when I'm playing a "steal fans" in All-Star mode and I start smellin' the stit...I start really focusing because I know that HAL has just slipped into immortal mode. It doesn't matter how strategically I pitch, what pitcher. In this particular fiasco I brought in Snell (warmed up but not too warm) in the bottom of the third of a 0-0 game. He doesn't get an out. 3 straight hits. And I was painting the corners. NEVER should this happen in All-Star mode in Conquest.

Steal, stronghold games or regular take over an hexagon by playing instead of simming is the same across the board. I play on AS or HoF and there’s never been any variations in difficulty. Stop making stuff up to justify your shortcomings; play on Vet if you struggle.

STFU and quit proving your ignorance dipstick.
Don't have time to argue with the trolls today. I stated my case, if they don't fix it it wouldn't surprise me.
I know some long time player posted a big soliloquy a couple days ago because he was done. What drove him away..the zany and occasional glitch in Conquest where you'll simulate a match and he lost 15-2. Had seen it one too many times. Evidently he been complaining about it for years and they wouldn't fix it. Supposedly, if you believe his post, he's done with the game.
Most people that buy this game never land on this forum. They see these things and just think "inferior product" consider the $50 purchase sunk money and never buy it again.
I'm sure most on this forum don't make big announcements..they just quit playing and quit buying.
Some try to change things for the better. When the futility of it sets in, you just find a different game to play or take up a better hobby.

That was a little harsh but I wouldn't call it trolly, I think he was just saying you need to relax a bit. Not just the difficulty level affects the outcome- we all have bad games or get out of sync sometimes. Just like real baseball. You probably really should just do veteran, and then even still you'll probably lose sometimes, especially when you're on tilt. And as far as the sims go, the probability meter never goes 100 percent so you shouldn't assume that'll be a win every time either.

Don't start the "just like baseball nonsense"
I'm not even talking about the mechanics of the game of baseball and competition.
I'm talking about the failure in the software to distinguish between difficulty levels. Either failure or purposely coded or just the same old DDA that is part of the game engine and effects every part of it equally. Probably just noticed a little more when playing frequent 3 inning games as opposed to playing 9 inning RS games.
To be honest, your reply is probably more trollish than his because it's the same canned [censored] with a slightly different label.
Anytime you slip in the "play at a lower level" suggestion ya know you're being a Richard. Anytime you suggest in such a profoundly illogical way that it has anything to do with the player being out-of-synch..you're trolling. As far as that goes, you could be the same troll with a different profile.
But, I will give ya this, you got me to reply to another dipstick with a different trolling style. Just not as quite transparent as the last one. But, transparent all the same.

I'll answer though. I like to be accurate and thorough with my documentation. Sometimes ya gotta work the keyboard a little.

Not that I necessarily disagree with the overall sentiment of this thread, but this how baseball and most sports work. Some games are going to be lopsided and some games are going to be close. No matter how good or bad a team is.

Ok, for all to see..I don't know who this cat is, but I suspect him to either be just a troll or possibly undercover gatekeeper for SDS. Or just some dipstick with multiple personalities. One thing about my posts...they don't vary too much from my mission.
From one of this guys earlier replies in a thread about complaining. And I'm quoting:
"That's completely true but for me these things become a matter of not wanting to admit defeat. I get time committed. Also gets me mad when like common pitchers with a 43 control rating paint the corners consistently, or someone with a 92mph fastball and 75 velocity throw lightning toilet squirters. I get mad at the programmers for messing with me and I want to prove I'm not their tissue they're skeeting into under their desk when they're supposed to be working. Those guys are as worthless as their discarded baby batter bags and they can't beat me like they do their you-know-what"
I'm going to guess a developer or someone that wouldn't get banned for saying "Those guys are as worthless as their discarded baby batterbags". Dude, you ain't fooling no one. But, I can't say I don't agree with your comment.
