I'm unable to afford a PlayStation Plus subscription, so I can't do any of the online modes (Play Now, Battle Royale, Ranked Seasons, etc.). As a result it's difficult for me to earn program stars and advance very far in the inning programs.

Is there a way to earn program stars without online modes? Can moments be repeated for program stars?

They cant be repeated but so far what has been released yields 140 stars not including stars from playing the game or daily missions: Showdown(70), Conquest(30) Granderson(20) and Wood(20). These can be played entirely offline and you will get probably 15-20 gameplay stars from completing all of that. They will likely release 3-4 player programs per inning program for a total of 60-80 stars for all of them. Daily offline missions guarantee you 4 stars

I don't have PS plus and I have over 400..... but I have also pretty much lived on the game since the 13th, especially with quarantine.

It is definitely harder to earn those points offline this year from what we have seen so far.

Whether some people here believe it or not, offline players who are less talented at the game were hurt pretty badly by changes this year.

    1. Showdown - Not nearly as easy to get those 70 points as some people would lead you to believe. The less talented you are at hitting then the more attempts it will take (if you can ever actually finish it). If you lose against the first mini boss you are guaranteed to lose stubs in the attempt.

    2. Granderson and Woods - Unlike last year, when you could pick and choose what moments you wanted to complete to earn 3 points here or 5 points there, you have to finish all of the moments in the program now. On top of that, you also have to be good enough to defeat the CPU in a 9 inning all-star difficulty game, which is also a requirement for offline players. Plus, at least for Granderson, many of the moments were multi game moments (even harder) and the 20 points you get for the program is less than those moments would have earned us last year.

    3. Conquest, thank goodness they did not screw it up this year.

    4. Collections - There are two collections that can earn I believe 95 points but in all honesty the cost of completing both of them is higher than just buying all three bosses outright. And the thought of spending my stubs to earn program stars instead of spending them on players that I want turns me off

    5. Dailies - 4 to 5 points a day so they can net 80 to 100 points. Equipment exchanges though will probably cost you a few stubs unless you have stockpile of elbow guards and such. Innings with pitchers from a team will require 8 innings I believe, so 40 minutes of so of your daily play time will be spent pitching with a pitcher you would rather not pitch with. Innings with batters is not bad, especially if you can stack 5 on your team and just play a random conquest game with them. Of course this early in the season you may not have enough players to pull that off yet. I had one for SF players the other day and it turns out I only had one Giant batter in my inventory. I refused to buy more and I did not want to deal with racking up 15 innings with some Giant common player ion my lineup.

The last option of course is to just play a lot of games. I think you can still earn 1 point per conquest game.

Oh, I believe it. I'm trying to grind programs from last year, and it irks me that most of the program stars are earned through repeatable online objectives ("Win 15 games in ranked seasons!", etc etc.) Yet little to no offline objectives are repeatable. It's okay to me if the stubs and xp don't repeat, but I'd at least like to earn program stars. Since life got in the way and I missed out on playing when the other inning programs were going on, I'm in an even worse spot.

It seems to me that they definitely cater to the twitch crowd. Also, online requires a lot of stubs to put together anything competitive, which in turn means more real money spent after purchase. It's a design decision to encourage more real money spending.
