That gives the game a lot of hope. The general consensus is this patch made this the worst version of mlb the show to date which is unfortunate because just a week ago we were playing possibly the BEST version of mlb the show ever made. (Minus a few bugs and a few misc fixes)

Why they chose to scale the game back to a broken random dumpster fire is really beyond my understanding. I can’t even imagine the casual players would have any sort of fun playing this game in its current state.

That being said that makes me think positive about the eventual outcome.

    1. They need people that are actually good in this game testing it. We’ve watched the dev streams let’s be honest...none of you are very good at your own game which in turn makes you think other people can possibly be good at the game. To be honest all of you would be about 500-600 range or less in the grand scheme of things. So maybe get some very high skilled players down there to test the game?

    2. Accept that ppl want to have fun. Forget micro managing telemetry and data. If the scores are 10-8 they are 10-8. It got harder as you moved up...and it’s a lot more fun then 1-1 or 2-1 with 15 lineouts on great inputs by both teams.

    3. Respect the community and stay true to your word. You sold this game on SKILL WOULD MATTER. And INPUTS WOULD MATTER. They don’t. Period. Inputs mean literally nothing.

I'll defend it some. A lot of people on these forums are being hyperbolic calling the game "unplayable". I played 4 online games last night (3 Battle Royal games and a Ranked Season game) as well as 3-4 Conquest games. None of my online games ended 1-0 or 2-1. I scored 4+ runs in each one except one of the BR games which I lost. I felt I was rewarded for the times I made good contact and didn't really feel cheated any. I didn't come across any defensive glitches or crazy animations (although I have in previous sessions just none last night).

My one complaint which is made all the time here is the pitching. Between umps squeezing you with the zone and now it is much harder to hit location the pitching could use some tweaking.

Other than that I had a fun night playing. When I did play pre patch I felt the game was rewarding poor swings at a much higher rate and it was nearly impossible to strike batters out. So far I am enjoying it, but maybe I have just not ran into the issues others have.

As someone who's played MLB the show for 8+ years, I'd hardly call this the worst version ever. SDS has continually made improvements to the franchise over the past few years. I'd agree the game could use some tweaking and a patch, but you're blowing this way out of proportion and being overly dramatic. It's not that bad

I have played since 08. This version is about as bad as last years hitting wise...slightly worse. And now the pitching forced missed locations on perfect meters and defensive blunders by diamond studs is added which in fact makes this game worse then 14, 15, 16, 17, and 19...MAYBE 18 was worse.

And I’ve played all those games very recently too and they are better then this.

This game does though have the potential as we saw to be very good.

The graphics and presentation are what makes it feel "real".

Programming the game to have both users hit and pitch to real life MLB averages is ignorant. Especially online.

And here is a serious question.....How am I supposed to get better at hitting if the outcome of PCI placement are random? How do I get better if what I do is based on MLB averages? How am I supposed to work on PCI placement?

    All real and serious questions.

This game isn’t realistic. When Freddie Freeman works a 3-2 count with the bases loaded lefty on righty and gets a meatball he times perfectly with perfect bat barrel location. It’s not an out. When mike trout gets a routine fly ball it doesn’t hit him in the face. When arenado gets a grounder he might whiff one here and there. Not 3 times in one game. Accept there needs to be user skill in h2h play you want a baseball sim play offline.

Yea I’m fine with not allowing poor swings. Way too many good swings are outs dude. And I agree the big problem is the pitching

Define way to many? Go watch a real baseball game and you will find examples in every game of players smashing the ball only for it to be a deep flyout or right at someone.

More goes into the outcome of a batted ball than just timing and if you square it up. Location of where you hit the ball, spin of the ball as well as weather will all effect a balls flight path. Hitting a ball in the center of the plate with good timing and squaring it up is different than if you have good timing and square up a ball that is low and off the plate.

This isn’t a real baseball game it’s a video game. If you don’t account for user skill then you remove the competitive nature of the game online. I’m talk 10-20 good/good, good/squared, perfect/perfect outs. That induces randomizing gameplay. Once in awhile you can have lineouts im fine with that . The game is not rewarding users properly it’s obvious. Weather baseball is random or not you have ONE USER VERSE ANOTHER USER the user making better inputs deserves to be rewarded more then the user not making as good inputs. That is the gist of online competitive GAMING

Funny you ask. I’m playing showdown right. I get 6 outs to come back fri a deficit.

Here are my inputs. Good/squared. Out
Good squared. Out. Perfect/perfect out. Good/good. Out. And now I have 2 outs remaining. How do you explain to me WHAT I CAN DO. To be better please explain to me how I CHANGE THAT OUTCOME. As a user trying to just get this challenge done??? Spend hours until it decides to give it to me???

The "this makes it more realistic/simulation" mindset is why we're all here complaining, save for the 3 guys who want a video game to be exactly like the real life game.

If I go and watch a baseball game and sit in the stands I'm in control of very little except how many beers I drink and how many hot dogs I eat until I get heartburn.

When I'm playing a video my expectations are completely different because with a controller in my hand I should be in control of a lot more things. I don't want to play perfect perfect pop-ups, and perfect perfect line outs because that mimics real life baseball.

Furthermore, it's been 2 weeks. 2 f'n weeks and I'm bored with the game. Aggressive simulation is not the way.
