I am new to the franchise. I play mostly diamond dynasty just trying to get better. I am not looking to go undefeated online, however I do sometimes lose games in conquest on rookie to the cpu. I do not have great discipline I often swing at lots of balls, however even when I swing at a decent pitch I am always popping it out or choping it right to an infielder. Any tips or good youtubers to watch for tips?
I recommend CBrev. He has some good hitting tips and a section in his channel called what would Brev do. That helped me big time last year.
To work on plate discipline Challenge of the week can help a lot

Try All-Star vs CPU. Do 3 nine inning games, get some ABs without that much interruption. Move your PCI between Middle and High. Take 2 pitches at least and track the pitches, get a few walks. You will crush the hangers. On pitching just practice doting as much as you can.
-
and don't swing at the low ones. Just wait for hangers ...might have to put on HBO Max in the background. Get ABs.

The improved Practice mode is INVALUABLE.
It's not 'sexy,' but practice is like prayer....it works!
Put together a roster of pitchers who give you nightmares on one team. Save the roster and even try higher difficulties. Load that roster and face your fear! Mine is Valenzuela, lol.
I put Mike Scott, Lee, Vida, Fernando, O'Day, lol and other wizard pitchers on the Yankees.
I'm shocked that people needing help don't go there. -

Challenge of the week should be a daily routine for a new player. It will teach you strike zone recognition.
Another suggestion is to have your pitching and hitting camera both be strike zone or SZ2. Your eyes need that muscle memory for pitch recognition, and it's one of the best ways to do it.
I'd actually recommend staying away from YouTube videos until you can start drawing at least 2-3 walks a game.

Hit me up for a party chat sometime, we can play none-sweaty and talk about some pointers:
- Plate strategy
- PCI setup
- Pitch Shaping
I enjoy helping new players and have had some success do-so.

What settings do you use? What camera angle for hitting?

I use strike zone because thats what I heard multiple people say. This may sound dumb but I can not for the life of me figure out how to get that aiming setting while batting. I turned on pci but every setting i pick either nothing shows up or I get a huge 1 that only lets me snap to the corners.
-
My hitting improved with repetition, turning the pci off and switching to strike zone 3. Most people would think that my settings sound more difficult to use, but I went from a 167 hitter to a 296 hitter. I would also say only use hitters that you do better with and do not play who has a higher rating. I have used every gold and diamond in the game, and some of my best hitters are low diamonds and high golds.

This last part I think is great advice which I should know coming from Madden ultimate team Hockey ultinate team and the 2k myteam franchise. Certain players outplay or underplay their ratings. Since this is my first game of the show franchise i do not have that knowledge yet of who is worth using so i often go by their ratings strictly. I can tell you I am hitting about .96 with Trout (not even a joke) and .150ish with Acuna. However with Judge and Bryce Harper I am hovering high .300 to low .400. Granted I play CPU so its not impressive, but I for some reason can not hit with the top tier guys.

Have you tried bunting every at bat when you get two strikes?

You can change your PCI settings and customize it I personally use diamonds for my inner dots and then I shut off the outside indicators. I think it’s too distracting to have all that on the screen and allows you to focus more on the ball. Strikezone is a good camera angle that’s what most people use. Make sure you are using zone hitting and not directional that may be your issue. At least that’s what it sounds like you are using to me.

I paralleled every diamond and gold card in game to at least level 1...and gold live series Teoscar Hernandez has the best avg vs CPU at .730. So many great cards, but they do play different online than vs cpu.

Forgot about all the practicing thing mentioned. It has a diminishing return. The game physics (if you want to call them that) change every time a new fix goes out. There are also pitches programmed so you really can't hit them in certain situations and thrown by some pitchers.
If you're really wanting to get some initial feel, play RTTS on Dynamic mode. Get yourself to Triple A. By then you'll be just about as good with the bat as you ever will be. After that, you're at the mercy of the AI. By AI I mean the computer software that really determines the results of an AB and displays the animation however it chooses depending on the situation and predetermined results.
The most important thing to take away. You're only as good as the AI lets you be.
