My guess is you've not spent much time @ a ball game. You can identify the correct sound by watching a game now since the staduims are not so full. The sound of a squared up ball is loud and distinct. More like last years version.
I wish they would do an old school squared up besr aluminum bat unlockable audio. That sound was so unreal, when you got it clean it had a completely different sound than normal. It was like a quick loud click

When did the sound change? I just noticed yesterday. I was in a slump so who knows how long it had been since I hit P/P.

It sounds good with PS headset and also feels really good on PS5 dual sense when you hit PP…I think it would be sick if they added the sound of a PP through the PS controllers speaker that would just give it an even more authentic sound & feel

PP sound seems improved or I just got use to it now...

I don't have an issue with it this year. I mainly use headphones or I crank the volume thru the stereo and it sounds like I'm at the stadium.
I hit a granny with chipper last night and it was loud as hell -
I don’t care if it sounds like a whoopee cushion. I just want it to stop going straight to the shortstop.

Post game replay highlights have really downgraded… Not sure why they focused on something they had looking so good and basically butchered it … I know this is off topic but had to mention it… The perfect perfect sound I’m ok with… Last years and this years are good …

The new sound is fairly realistic or more so that year's past...I've played baseball basically my whole life and when you square up a pitch you basically don't even feel it and the sound isn't a bang like what you casual noobs want...this isn't suppose to be a movie people, the game is suppose to be a simulation of baseball.
