Small Gripe on Quick Pitching in Online Play

As the title states, I have a small complaint here. I don’t put it on the players, I get why people do it and I get that you can counteract it by holding RT/R2. I have no problem with someone who wants to come set and waste not time going into the windup, but I think there needs to be a little bit more of a buffer between pitches. If a pitcher in real life wants to quick pitch a hitter, he’s not going to be throwing a pitch 2-3 seconds after the prior pitch. He still needs to get the ball back from his catcher, step on the rubber again and get his sign. I’m not saying all of that needs to be added into the game. Online play would take forever if they did that. Would be nice if there was a 1-2 second delay before the pitch selection controls popped up though so the person batting could have a chance to go into the quick menu if they need to warm up a pitcher in the bullpen or put in a pinch hitter or runner without having to spam the quick menu button in a race against the pitcher selecting his pitch. Would also be nice to have just a second or two more to look at the swing analysis from the prior pitch. Again, not complaining against the players, but it’s something that should be taken into consideration when developing what is supposed to be a baseball simulation. The games don’t need to drag out because of it, but no one should be able to throw two pitches in the span of three seconds either.

I think it's the players exploiting a weakness of the game. The game has a buffer delay in place already, the problem is that it seems there is a way to force skip it, causing that weird behaviour where the pitcher is firing bullets instead of pitches. I wish you luck finding ppl who does not do that or does not know how to do it yet.

My games take about an hour. I refuse to cheese.

I am a huge quick pitch guy and i will throw strikes just to get the next batter up so I can get the game over fast. Please quick pitch me in return

I’ve only experienced it a couple of times. Haven’t played online too much because I’m really into RTTS. Trying to play the online event a little more now to get Olerud, he’s one of my all time favorite Mets.

I don’t have a problem with true quick pitching, where the pitcher doesn’t come set for very long or at all before throwing. I think there should just be an extra couple of seconds between pitches so I don’t have to spam up on the D-pad if I want to access my bench or bullpen, or so I can take a look at the swing feedback.

They need to prevent people from pitching out of the stretch with nobody on base.

There are some pitchers who do that in real life, particularly some relievers. It’s totally allowed as per the rules of baseball. Have you see people in this game make a pitcher who normally pitches from the wind-up go to the stretch instead when the bases are empty? If so I’ll have to pay attention to that. I didn’t even know that was possible.

Do you mean slidestepping with noone on base. I actually don't mind it if they come set. But when they balk with it by not coming set it tends to glitch through the come set animation and warp the release points.

As Car RamRod 18 said, its being done in real life, its annoying as hell because it puts you on your heels really quick. But I rarely see ppl use it on online play when there is no one on base. I have like 1600 something rating, so maybe at a higher level? Anyway, is really stressing for the player pitching doing that, because the movement of the character is too fast, you tend to miss a lot over the heart of the plate because you get caught in the auto pitch mode, since you can't focus on what exact pitch to throw next very well.

I am having an issue (twice now in BR) where I’m pressing start over and over as my pitcher comes to the plate to make a sub, and OP quick pitches for a free strike. I’ve tried holding RT and dpad down as well. It cost me both those games. Why is there no option to pause during walk ups?!?

Yup that’s exactly what my biggest gripe is. I want to use a pinch hitter but can’t get the menu up quick enough. I’ll sit there and repeatedly press up on the d-pad to get the quick menu up but sometimes I’m not fast enough doing it.
