Kinda new this year....so a serious question....

I have all of the NL done....just need Trout and the AL East. I'm a 100% NMS player. So it'll still be quite awhile before I can get the stubs to finish.

But I gotta believe at some point, it's just not worth completing the set and locking in all those stubs, right?

I mean, we'll have a better 3B than Chipper and a better CF than Trout at some point....

So how long do I have left before it's better off just not blowing your stubs?

    TIA

I finished collections really late last year and even though I ended up being horrible with Mickey, it still helped in unlocking the 99 Mike Trout they released as the big collection reward due to all of the intermediate cards you get.

As far as a better 3B and better CF, chipper is debatably one of the best 3B cards we'll get all year, and even then he has SS and LF secondaries so if we get a truly superior 3B he can be moved around. Soriano is a fantastic 2B and OF card as well, and Ortiz is probably the best lefty pure hitter. Will those cards be the end-all be-all? No. Do you absolutely need to do collections? No. Are they worth it at pretty much any point in the game's lifecycle? I'd argue so.

It’s arguably too late now. There’s very good options at every position without needing to do the collection. Chipper will be “god squad” worthy all year but again, the price/benefit isn’t worth it in my opinion with so many options available now and more to come.

The Live Series collection is just a way for money spent players to have a leg up on others for the first month or two as there aren’t many options even close to 99 Overalls. But especially with paralleling players this year, theres plenty of players that will produce. Might not be better than Chipper but we’re splitting hairs a bit. Just my opinion.

The true answer has a lot of layers really.

Is it never to late, no and I think this year's collection cards are mainstay cards for the whole year.

That said would I complete it right now, no the cards prices aren't worth it compared to whats available but this is a moving target as Friday could bring something that crashes the market and prices go low enough that I say it's worthwhile to get a gatekeeper card.

Also it's really what you want to do with this game now. For me it's about getting as many cards as possible for the big collection and the ones to come. So i focus on what comes into the market via packs.

Is chipper your favorite players then it's also worthwhile cause you get your guys.

All I all do what you want to do and will give you the most fun and rewarding experience for this game collection wise

For me, personally, it’s never too late. I absolutely love collecting cards in these modes. It’s a lot of fun to me. I’m an average player at best, but I just love completing things and getting rewards. I don’t spend money on the game either, so I still need 4 of the gatekeepers, but I’m oh so close!

I only have Betts and Bellinger to go so I say keep grinding for Chipper. No where near too late.

I did DD for the first time last year, bought the game almost a year ago today. That said I was WAY behind and didn’t finish the collections until November I think. Most of the cards were worthless, including Mickey once the Finest came out. But, I had a ton of fun doing it and had some fun playing with the extra cards throughout the winter.

So, I guess it all depends on your expiration date for the game. If you play year round, it’s never too late. But if you drop this for 2k or Madden, then you may want to get it done sooner than later. Plus Ortiz is a beast, Soriano is amazing, and Chipper is constantly a great card. Good luck no matter what you do!

Yeah, it's never to late. Last year was my second year in DD and I was so happy to complete the LS collection and then get the big Trout reward. Was a big grind but to me the fun part was how I figured out how to make stubs and really earn it.
Never think it's too late, because it never is.

Play the game how you want to play. I am basically all offline but I still want to complete as many collections as possible. I think i need 7 diamond cards to finish the Live Series collection, plus any random guys who get added to those teams 40 man rosters, but I don't plan on spending my stubs on them at this time. I figure the cards will come eventually, but I play every day to try to have fun.
