Perfect Platoons...

Papi ain’t leaving the lineup. I don’t care if the dude is throwing with his feet. Which could actually happen in this game.
-
Ortiz has 103 contact and 103 power vs. lefties, and he has a good/quick swing. I don't understand why you would platoon him unless you really can't handle lefty lefty, but to each his own.
I never platoon guys, but I've pulled Reggie Jackson once or twice when it's late in the game if a good lefty comes in from the pen. His PCI against a good lefty can get a little small, and getting better speed/defense in the outfield late in the game doesn't hurt. Last time I think I pinch hit with Troy Glaus, and then Buxton came in to replace him in right.
-
So what do you do with your Platoons the next time around and they switch pitchers on you again?

Charlie Sheen
-
No need to platoon. I prefer great all around hitters
-
Shohei Ohtani / Ramon Laureano
Jim Thome / Matt Wieters -
My only real platoon is the occasional third baseman swap if I'm desperate late in the game. I start Groshans there but if it gets late I'll yank him and let Duvall or Babe hit (depending on pitcher handedness) and then throw Minnie in to play D.
-
get balanced hitters and it shouldnt matter. I have two Lefties, 3 switch and it seems fine for me. I have been tempted to try a game with my all switch lineup though
-
I don’t have platoons. They waste bench players that can be very important later in the game. My only somewhat platoon is with Blackmon and Kemp. Blackmon plays most of the game but if I’m facing a lefty late in the game I’ll sub in Kemp for the matchup and improved defense to close it out.
-
I don’t use them. Personally I find that particularly w/ LH power hitters guys think they can get away with throwing some pretty hit table pitches, particularly down and in. Also I alternate handed was throughout the lineup for a reason. The last thing I want is to plug in 4 righties in a row to take on a tough pitcher and then see O’day come out of the bullpen.
-
I don’t use them in diamond dynasty but I do use a ton of them in March to October.

You simply start the Lefties that usually have close to maxed out Right handed hitting and bring in the Right handed hitter who is usually more balanced from both sides. Also it doesn’t matter as much if it’s a switch hitter like Mantle and it’s an even bigger bonus when they pound Lefites like him or Ketel Marte who was great for this early on. Niko Goodrum as well.
I’ve had one of these on my team off and on for years. Maxed out Granderson back in 17, when it was a lefty, enter Ben Zobrist who is a switch hitter that does better against lefties and still really well against righties.
Pretty solid strategy if it’s not over done, and having a S hitter on the bench is never a bad idea, sometimes people will leave a pitcher in for an extra batter if they don’t get a match up.

List some of your favs...
Start Big Papi - Swap in Fox if LHP
Start Steve Finley - Swap in Mantle if LHPI dont swap Papi ever. Not ever
-
I dig swapping Lofton in late for a hitter like Bichette.
Any time I can swap the big bat for speed/defense late, I am in.
