Opponent is paused and timer ran out twice

In the 8th inning of an action packed 0-0 game of let’s see who can flail worse at 120 mph sinkers. I tried to check the replay after he just hit a liner right at Freddie Freeman who decided to drop it to allow Jackie to reach. The screen goes black. After like 10 seconds it comes back and opponent is paused. His timer has run out twice and I clicked square to forfeit him and it keeps giving him 2:45 back on the clock. Now what?

Timer ran out 4 times now. I’m just letting it sit on the screen where it asks if I want to forfeit their game or continue to wait. This is definitely a first and it sucks. Thanks SDS

It's been happening all year so far. They don't seem to give a [censored]. For the same reason they refuse to even make fixing contact swinging a priority even though they acknowledged it in 2 streams already is pretty asinine on their part..but whatever. It's only a game.

I tried searching. From what I saw Xbox users complained about this. I’m on PS5 and have had crossplay turned off since the first few days of release. This is ridiculous.

Happened to me the other day on PS4.
Did the pause screen flicker and start putting up random windows like you were checking lineups and bullpens? That's what it did for me.
It's a new kind of freeze off.
Normally I don't waste my time fitting in one; but the time it happened to me game was laggy and he refused a Friendly Quit.
So I just waited and he eventually quit.
Is it an Event game or RS? Who's winning?

I have yet to have this happen to me (knock on wood), but if it does, it's just going to take be a bruise on the confidence level with this game in general. How could this possibly be a problem 2 months into the game when guys have been complaining since it started?

Currently in a freeze off with a xbox player. I'm up 3-1 in the 5th. Runners at the corners, no outs, Thome up against a RHP. He throws a terrible pick off to the...catcher...and no one is moving from their base???? OK bud. But he refuses to quit.
No worries, I won't be playing again for a couple days. I'd love to let him know I'm headed out of town for vacation for a couple days. But, it's more entertaining to think of him staring at the screen on repeat hoping I quit first.
You'd think this stuff would be fixed after YEARS of the same issues. so it goes.

Ok I don’t know what happened. I started going through all the menus in the pause screen and checking the box score. Came back out of the pause and his timer went to zero and I got the W. Very weird. I only want that win if he was doing it on purpose, otherwise I feel like it should have been a FQ since it was 0-0.

Yeah. It was strange. The game was EXTREMELY laggy so I offered a FQ. He refused then the screen kind of went bonkers. Brought up 4 windows (Lineup, BP, Box Score, and Settings) all at once.
Then when I unpaused it still showed him in pause. When his timer hit 0 it asked me if I wanted to forfeit his game. When I hit the button it brought 2:45 back up in the clock.
Did it each time (5) I accepted the Forfeit. After the fifth time; I just let it sit on 0 until he quit.
I think it was an Event game from the Gold Glove Event. Normally I would've just quit, even though I was up 1-0; but because I knew the connection issue was on his end and he refused the Friendly Quit, I just did other stuff while I waited.

If you're seriously going out of town; I would quit. No use having your console brick and even worse end up starting a fire or something.
The house down the street caught on fire the other night and a 4 yr old died.
Guy was talking to me and said that he left his console on, while he went to work, and it shorted out.

I appreciate that, but I haven't turned my console off for several years. It's done fine.
