My Thoughts on this year's game
-
Let me start by saying I do not frequent these forums, at least not in quite some time. So if I'm being redundant or anything else, know that I have no idea what everyone has been talking about for the last month and a half.
I have been an avid DD player since MLB 17, and with that I have experience enough to compare the last few iterations. With that said, this year's game has been the most frustrating to me by far of any game. I am unsure if my skill has regressed in comparison to the other players and adaptations within the game, or if it's actually the way the gameplay works. Either way, here are my thoughts on each aspect of the game.
Pitching wise, I've always been hit or miss. I have not tried out pinpoint extensively, I still use pure analog (or whatever it is called), so I cannot really speak on pitching.
Base running wise, this year's inputs seem sometimes to be delayed or at least sometimes funky/glitchy. I find myself sending runners, to later see that they did not advance. I am not necessarily saying this is some incredible issue, because it could just me being bad with my timing. However, it is different from how successful (or not) I've been in previous years, so I figured it worth noting.
Hitting. Hitting. Hitting.
What can I say about hitting this year, other than I suck? I don't square the ball up nearly as often as I have in previous years. I have no idea what changes were made to pitch speeds/movement or any codes within the mechanics, but I am significantly worse than any other year. Not only am I worse at putting PCI to ball, but it seems as if the feedback this year is either wrong, or they messed with something to make outcomes less input based. I have had pitches where the PCI barely touched the ball for a 500 foot HR on an early swing. I've had [censored] near perfect PCI placements with "good" swing timing result in catcher popups (the most recent being with LS Acuna vs a lefty). I have no idea what I'm doing at the plate most times, and it doesn't really seem to make a difference which cards I use. Good inputs with elite cards result the same weak flyouts I get with bad swings with every card.I don't know if I'm in the majority or the minority, but I suck at hitting this year. With all of that being said, I still enjoy the grind and will still continue to play, I just felt like writing my thoughts down somewhere. Feel free to let me know your thoughts, especially if I'm the only one and I just suck.
Note: I am typically a 800 rating range player. Not good enough to make WS easily, but good enough to make it if I have the time/energy to play enough games.
This year, I can't make it out of the 700s. Like I said, not sure of any game changes or if pitch speeds changed at the hall of Fame level, but I have struggled significantly since hitting 700 rating. -
Online has changed a lot since 17. For the worse in my opinion.

I agree with your take on hitting. I have never made WS, but CS at least once per year. I don’t play a lot of RS. Either way, normally I am decent enough to have some success. This year I can’t hit the broadside of a barn. Every offspeed pitch is an enigma. They all look like strikes and end up 10ft out of the zone. Maybe just need to get more games in to get up to speed. But it definitely seems a little different. Also I am on PS5 this year, so I dunno if that has any impact, but it’s the only thing I can think of that I’m doing differently from prior years

Dude what are you talking about?, playing regular Franchise offline with a good mature set of sliders with updated proper rosters, not SDS ones is mint.

Its basically knucklecutter's HOF slider set on Operations Sports with my own adjustments...instead of HOF pitching and hitting I changed mine to Legend for both. And also I changed Contact and Timing up one click to 7 for each and Outfielder speed to 2 and Baserunning speed to 4, for baserunning I wish there was a 4.5 cause that would be perfect. I changed Wind to 4 cause this affects temperature..meaning I wouldn't want 10 degrees celsius in April and May. Every other settings are the same but this is just my Pre-Spring Training set....after I finish a month of Spring Training then it will mature a bit more for Regular Season Franchise.

I'm interested to hear the difference between PS5 and 4. I am still on the 4, so that hasn't changed. I honestly don't know if the new system would help me at all, but I couldn't do any worse than I have since reaching HoF difficulty

But the trade logic still not good, progression/regression broke, etc.

Dude I'm not a true Franchise player...I'm a Season player...I only play one season per year and I have 30 Team Control and set injuries before season starts and let it go after that, whatever happens to the league for injuries happens. As for Trades, I control all trades, I mimic real life...as for call ups and 40 man roaster stuff for the other teams I don't handle that..the CPU handles that stuff. The only real work is the trade deadline but no big deal, that takes like an hour to do.
