who swings at the least amount of dirtballs wins in dd....lol
i played two DD rated games and won both over the weekend but there were close games 2-1 and 3-1 i think and it basically becomes a darn dirtball fest. i think sds needs to close in on the hit box for balls down low and allow you to foul off those pitches and/or make a dirtball a little more obvious to read. to me, its very hard to distinguish a dirtball on this game as many thousands of others say and feel the same way. irl, a dirtball is easy to read, not on this game. jmo.

this stuff is pure gold
Instead of learning to recognize pitches and develop plate discipline
MAKE THE PITCHES EASIER TO READ AND ALLOW ME TO FOUL THEM OFF WHILE TAKING HORRIBLE SWINGS
-
It’s the only way to get a strike out and keep people off balance. And even still dudes foul it off 100 times a game. You make those ineffective you’re going to have half the guys hitting .500+

Yup. Might as well go play 20 if that's what you're looking for. Check swings and foull ball galore until the game forces one down the middle for a 3 run homer that will win you a game you had absolutely no business of winning.

A dirt ball is not easy to read IRL when you're sitting on a 97 mph heater lmao. Patience and experience OP, two tools needed to get better at the game, and 100% of swings of balls in the firt should be missed. 100%.
-
I struggle at picking up offspeed pitches low in the zone vs low out of the zone.
That's not a "my opponent" problem. That's a me problem.
-
my point is... all the game turns into is a dirt fest. doesn't matter that i cant lay off of the majority of dirtballs lol..
sds should widen the hit box for contact or make a mode called "strikezone" where all pitches have to be delievered no higher or no wider than a ball's distance any where outside the strikezone box.

If you can't lay off the dirt pitches, thats on you. No the SDS shouldn't cater to the crowd who swings at everything. If you want a baseball game where you can swing at everything and think you're good at the game, I recommend Wii Baseball.
Beyond that point, learn patience, gather experience, learn the curve (Hah, pun!). Everyone started where you are, I swung at everything in MLB 15 and 16 until I learned to get better. I didn't ask for the developers to cater to my own disadvantages.

I think that’s called homerun derby.

yes but ask yourself this. how many times does a pitcher actually throw a ball in the dirt during a pitch count irl. maybe once, once he has the batter 0-2, 1-2....not throw 5 dirtballs in at bat with a total of a 50 dirtballs in a 9 inning game. thats not baseball

Because he knows the batter has a professional eye for pitches. If he were facing a guy who swung at everything, he probably would throw nothing but dirt.

no those are straight pitches right into the wheel house of the batter, thats hr derby

Can you share some tips for HOW you got better? I know people say read the ball out of the hand but I just can't do that in a video game. I've sat and tried in practice mode for 4 years to try and do it and I just can't. I could IRL but it just doesn't translate into a video game for me.

disagree, the contact and vision can be altered using a strikezone mode and there is a such thing as being a crafty pitcher.

Experience and patience at the plate. Thats literally all it is, to go in depth is difficult since I've never done a self scouting report, though I should...

Look man, the thing you're bothered with in this thread is the very same thing people were so fed up with last year. Strikeouts were non existent and terrible players could keep at bats alive until forever. The only people who would be upset with these changes are them, the terrible players.

these goons act like they got it figured out lol....trust they dont.
ive improved by playing probably 50 cpu games so far against veteran and higher difficulty but even then, the amount of dirtballs with anticipation added in is hard to pick up on a video game. your basically reduced to moving your pci to the bottom waiting for one pitch. the really good players dont use the dirt as much. id rather lose facing a good pitcher than someone whose uses dirtballs all the time
