Are there really that many SD transplants in Houston or do people just go to root against the astros?

Houston is one of the biggest and most diverse cities in the USA and there’s a lot of people here who aren’t from Houston (me included)

Did the scandal turn off casual fans that may have rooted for them as a secondary team?

I think so, many of the die Hards have doubled down and accepted the cheating but I think a lot of people like the Padres because they were the hot and exciting team while the astros were dealing with the backlash

Lots of people in California sold their houses for premium prices and moved to Texas.

Blatant cheating tends to be a turnoff.

I know Austin is pretty popular among people outside of Texas, don’t know how far/close it is to Houston though

Man, the astros diehards are the worst. Just admit that it is tainted and move on.

I’d course it is nowhere near the level of penn state fans.

About 2 1/2 to 3 hours, I think Austin definitely has the majority of California transplants tho

This is true. I live in California and know many people who have done this.

You're gonna have to help me out with that reference, because I know who Joe Rogan is but I don't really follow him.

There’s no loyalty in sports anymore in the internet era. About 95% of “fans” go for a team because they are good.

Go astros. 2017 World Series champs baby. Wish my other sports teams would cheat so I could see them win championships.

Plus the Astros haven’t been “cheating” since and they lost in the World Series and AL championship. Maybe your team just sucks.

I’m a winner through and through. If I was a loser I would be thinking about whether a team stole signs like several other teams did like somebody else in this thread.

You’re probably a big Bauer fan eh? Whined about people cheating then whined about getting caught cheating hahah.

I used to listen to his podcasts, still do if he has Bill Burr on. He just blabs on and on and on about hunting, micro dosing mushrooms, anything that has to do with weed and derivatives, saunas, deer meat. It got old for me.

    Edit: And fighting

Okay but I still miss the connection with my comment about Californians selling their houses and moving to Texas?

Been a padres fan since well let's just say a LONG LONG LONG TIME.

Padre fans now are tatis driven. Which is cool, but 90% of them do not know the aaa teams I had to watch over the last 35 years to get to this point, with the exception of 84 and 98😔

Every road game this year has been incredibly loud for the padres. Which again is EL NINO driven.

H-Town is my home and if my work schedule permitted, I’d be at today’s game watching my beloved Stros. Plus, I’m a Snell fan and I wanted to watch him live. (Tough go today... But our bullpen better not blow it... 😓)

But to answer the main question, there are many opposing fans because, yes, Texas and especially H-Town has seen a large influx of transplants. I have 2 close friends that are examples.

And, yes, opponents have been invading the Juice Box and that’s fine. Do as you wish and please respect the families and children in your surroundings. I will continue to stand by my Stros and deal with it. Oh it’s petty, alright, but I get it.

    Go Stros.

    Go Stros.

Snell is not looking comfortable in the Padres rotation at all. His fastball has dropped in speed, and he can't get his slider down and away. Hope he does better in 2nd half of season.
