Stub Tax is theft?

I would hazard a guess that understanding how the market works is too advanced for some of the younger players of the game.
Guess inflation is too advanced for some people as well. You ain't getting farther ahead if they removed the tax.

Taxes make more sense when they're not just collected. Generally they're applied to improvements or benefits for the collective good. I don't know how this could be represented in-game other than maybe holding periodic lotteries, but that could be a cool idea.

I’ve played The Show for years, since 2013 I think other than missing the last two years, so I am very familiar with the market and stub tax. In previous years I occasionally bought stubs but have not the last few years that I have played and would not consider it now.
I was thinking this morning, we all accept the stub tax when selling cards, and if you (like me) are not purchasing stubs, then the stub tax is just part of the game. But when someone purchases stubs, buys a player, and then sells the player, they are having a portion of what they paid for taken back from them by SDS. How is this legal? It’s been this way for as long as I can remember, but I can’t believe there hasn’t been a lawsuit over this.
It's how they control inflation. You don't have to sale cards back or buy stubs.

I think OP raises a valid point. And these practices of micro transaction in games are being looked at and the legitimacy of their legality are starting to be questioned. These companies operate in gray areas with micro transactions. Concrete regulation hasn’t caught up to this form of a digital market.
This isn’t simple economics. This is a digital market place inside of a real outside world market place.

I get what you are saying, but I understand why it's there too. It would be far too easy to make stubs without the tax there. Also the way I see it since there isn't a real life tax on micro transactions (at least where I'm from, not sure how it works elsewhere) it's not much of a big deal if they tax me in game. If I had you pay a tax upon the purchase of stubs as well as the in game tax I might have a problem. As of now it's not really a big deal
Yes, but if you're purchasing stubs from SDS, you're paying tax in the USA.I bought some last year and I was charged tax on my credit card. So yes, technically, SDS is double dipping but SDS isn't charging the tax on real life currency, it's the government.

That's flawed logic. The way DD works is to sell cards on the market to really get anything out of the game. Saying "you don't have to do it" is the dumbest response possible. It would be impossible to open enough packs to get the LS collection done by yourself in a single year of the game. The market is almost a requirement if you want to compete.

That's got to be a state tax then. In Ohio when I pay $100 for 150,000 stubs I have always paid $100, not $107 which is what it would be with the state tax factored in

Tax allows for control of inflation. I mean someone could literally buy a card at 2000 and sell at 3000 all day and never have to worry. The margins would be out of whack. BTW just because you have to use the market doesn't mean you have to buy stubs which is the only reason why he was worried about it..

It's an optional tax, not mandatory. You never have to sell a card on the market if you don't want and you can sell every card without tax.
Are you talking about quick sell? You have to be joking. If someone spent $50 on stubs and purchased a player that was 67,500 stubs, why would they quick sell for 5,000?
I stated a fact

Ultimately no tax would mean higher prices, and not just because of inflation. If you put in buy orders, instead of their being a couple hundred or thousand stub gap because of tax, the margins would be much closer because even if a 10k card is 100 stubs apart, you wouldn't lose stubs buying it and then selling it.
