I played my 1st two ranked seasons games yesterday...
-
And they were completely fine/fun. Nobody bunt danced/R2 spammed/ quick pitched (much anyways). One game was a blowout but no one quit. No one abused the pause timers...scores were reasonable (5-2, 9-0)
The only reason I’m writing this is, given the toxic cesspit that everyone on these forums describes, I wanted to try it out for myself. It was neither completely broken nor unplayable. No vast AI conspiracy dictated the winner or the loser. I haven’t played The show since 17, I’ve never been a top player (CS in 17), and I thought the game felt pretty good online. I gave up runs on one mistake pitch and one great pitch... both of which happen IRL. I’m sure this isn’t reflective of the top tier - meta etc, but from the perspective of a filthy casual, I just wanted to say that RS felt pretty good at the start.
Now bring on the hate!

I've only played 5 Ranked games, but they were all totally fine. Nobody posts the good games on here because there's no need to. People like to complain.
-
that's how the majority of games will be. a lot of the people on here just like to find something to complain about i guess
-
You probably won't get a lot of hate for this because your experience is the way it should be. However, it WILL eventually happen to you and you'll see why some of us go out of our way to call out the toxicity for what it is.
Last night alone, I sent in three reports because of 1) bunt dancers and strictly bunting with the top five players in the lineup to be dickish; 2) graphic team name/team logo, ALONG with bunt dancing and R2 holding; and 3) continuous vulgar messages sent to me for using Bob Feller and striking the dude's [censored] out seven straight to start the game.
It will happen to you eventually and it won't be pleasant. No hate; just real talk.
-
Wait until you hit the 600-700 region and you start matching up with angry kids who can't make WS.

You reported someone for bunt dancing and bunting? And for holding R2? I can understand the rest of it, but come on. People just like you are why they don't take those reports seriously and nothing gets resolved. Honestly, how many times have you reported someone this year?

I agree That is the worst region for these types of players, but it still doesn't happen nearly as much as some people seem to think on here

People look for reasons to be upset when they lose. Nobody can just give the other person credit. There will always be trolls but people complain about anything after a loss.

When this goes on for an ENTIRE game, I'm not putting up with the horseshit of it all. I had every right to report them for it.
If dudes are going to exploit the bunt mechanism in this game by stacking their lineup with all speed guys and strictly bunt just to get on base via the fielding exploit, that's when [censored] becomes too much. And being able to actually send short snippets of video makes it even better.
As I said in a separate thread, there's a special place in Hell for these people...and they're definitely not good people outside of a baseball sim.

Same. 8 games so far and they were all perfectly fine.

Dude, those people suck but you're not exploiting the game if you stack your team with bunters. Play your second base in and you'll get them out every time (well, maybe every time). Let them give you the outs. Easy peasy.

This is 100% accurate

You had a 5-2 game on rookie? Lol
-
My only complaint is that i either win 3-2 or 2-1 or lose 10-0 by mercy
haha

It’s actually on Veteran. There’s no rookie in RS

Okay veteran. It felt like rookie when I play. Still I couldn’t fathom a 5-2 game when I played there. Maybe on a quit after the 1st.

Doesn't work. Trust me my guy...I attempted everything under the sun that I could think of.
If there's anything I can say that sort of redeems the sonofabitch, it's that he was quite good at exploiting it for what it is. I don't think I've played an RS game like that EVER...and I've been playing since '15.
-
Just to add to the good feelings, I had a really lovely game against someone at their home Fenway a couple of weeks ago. I lost but the game was excellent and I wish all RS games were like that. My opponent played so well in a comeback so well done to them.
-
I use excuses when I lose games, I blame it on the alcohol. Most of the time that is the case. To many drinks and I’m swinging at everything, I start fielding like an uncoordinated toddler. But you know what I enjoy the game so much more when I’m buzzing

Oh I agree. Ok completed my first 9 inning game when I was in the 700’s. All quits or mercies before that.
Have to remember not everyone has a decent skill set or timing to put up alot of runs
