Grinding through MiLB as a Pitcher is a joke

I love The Show. I’m 43 and been playing this series for years. I always make a RTTS fielder AND pitcher, but shake my head at the two-way experiment. I don’t want a two-way player, but that’s just me. I am old, after all.
Okay, that was the background info. My RTTS fielder is maxed out Diamond level with four Diamond perks. That save file is fun. The same can’t be said for the pitcher save file thus far. I am Gold level, currently own four Diamond perks (can only use three so far) and absurdly mowing down AA hitters to the point where the only entertainment value I derive is to try and beat absurd stats because the game won’t promote me until after the AA All-Star break.
Newsflash: a 91 OVR pitcher in AA with 142 K’s in 66.2 innings, and 1 run against on the season would have been promoted to The Show by now IRL. I know the game has its AI logic to go through but it’s mindlessly boring knowing I can and will get 15 or more K’s each outing.

@seanstephans_PSN - you're a young man. I'm 55. But yeah, the rest of your post I definitely agree with. Re-started all my RTTS saves. Create a Crime Dog 3B who gets drafted by the Reds. On day 1 of AA, my guy is a 99 OVR. Unsurprisingly, I'm killing it. Get to AAA right after the AA all-star game (totally scripted). Get called into the manager's office - change to 1B or be put on the trading block because I'm "blocked". I say pound sand - I'm staying at 3B. The next day, I'm traded. Two weeks later, I'm in the majors. It's just weird logic that's baked into the game all over. I had been hoping for years that eventually they were going to improve their management AI. But still no real improvement.

How in the world where you a 99 by that time? I've pitched 17 games, dominating all of and I've barely seen any stat increases. Seems like it will take me 100's of games just to reach the 80's.

I’m a 99 OVR Fielder. I’m a 91 OVR Pitcher. I have played several saves and started over.
I literally have 9 games with 15 or more K’s. One with 20–coincidentally the only game my manager let me pitch a complete game, or into the ninth. In 86 innings I have over 180 K’s and have had one single bad inning (2 walks and 2 hits). Allowed one HR and 3 runs this season on 25 hits and a handful of walks. Just grinding to get through the AS Break to be promoted to AAA.

What year are you in?
For me, 1/2 way through the 2021 season (my first season) I was called up to AAA. Around 55 games into 2022 I was called up to the majors. I think at the time I was about an OVR 80 for both.
I know when I got called up to AAA I was definitely still at silver in at least one of them, I'm pretty sure both. All along I leveled the pitcher and hitter about the same by using both a lot in DD as well where it's easier. The DD goals and repeatables are all easier and you can just pound out games on rookie vs. cpu or conquest for both.
It seems like you have thrown quite a few more innings then I did in AA and probably more at bats.
Maybe keeping both at a similar level is the difference? -
I’m in 2021 on both saves. I built up my batter to Diamond “The Dewey” archetype with four Diamond perks and restarted to start an RTTS save with him at 99 OVR. I wanted to be able to have a player get as many seasons as possible in MLB without having to grind several seasons in the minors.
I built up my pitcher to Silver “Filthy Painter” archetype with two Diamond perks (I own two more Diamond perks). I got the Gold “The Professor” archetype about 8 games into the season for the pitcher. It allowed me to add a third Diamond perk. Since he’s at Gold with three Diamond perks, he is now a 91. I have 51 of the bases earned towards the Diamond “The Professor” archetype pitcher.
My advice is to build up each separately so you can focus on getting the points for each. After you have created a Diamond archetype for each, then start a new save.

I got to diamond with 4 diamond perks on both the hitter and pitcher very near the end of the 2022 season (the season I was called up from AAA after about 55 games).
That was much faster then I expected.
Does that sound about right? Or hard to tell?
My pitcher is OVR 98 and hitter OVR 90, 60 games into the 2023 season.
I found leveling the pitcher to be much easier then the hitter when I stopped grinding in DD.. -
Yup. You’re on track.
