I know each year the game adds a lot of new cards many from older eras, but can we get more guys from the 90s early 2000s? Guys we actually grew up watching. cough-Sammy Sosa-cough.

I think they've done a pretty good job on that front. They've added guys like Frank Thomas, Roy Oswalt, Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon and so on and so on.
I do like seeing the old timers, though. My historical baseball knowledge isn't that great, so I like to see some names I recognize, but barely. And then look them up and then play with them. It's fun to see how a guy may have played like but I never saw him play.
I'm sure we'll get another round of players for The Show 20, and it'll have a good mix of newer and older legends. But, I do agree.... we need Pedro. -
The names the guy has mentioned above have been added plus
Pudge, Rick Ankiel, Rickey Henderson, Matt Williams, Michael Young, Benito Santiago, Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Troy Percival, Adam Dunn, and Aubrey Huff were added this year
I'd love more of this era to (Scott Rolen please), but SDS has been very active in adding these players. -
Guys from the era you're focused on are going to be the most expensive getting rights to.

If you counted number of legends from any 20 year period 90-2010 is best represented. You could make a team with a few options. 1950 to 1970 doesn’t have nearly as much by comparison.

It’s not always about cash, either. If a player isn’t active, he (or his agent) can just say no when SDS ask to license his name and likeness. Maybe he doesn’t support video games, maybe his career ended in shame (roids, etc.), maybe he doesn’t want his avatar giving up walk-off bombs to a CAP named Big Daddy Diick, who knows. If they say no, it’s not happening.

Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder. This year SDS did an amazing job bringing us historically significant players. I love the black and white photos and some day I want to make an all black and white team build.
Maybe a guy like Jeff Kent would want a whole marketing strategy built around him as a featured player...the way they did with Stan Musiel last year. Nobody benefited from steroids the way Kent did, he didn't have to inject...he just had to hit in front of Bonds. Some day in the future, MLBTS players will salivate over his card. This year on the other hand he would just be another face in what is already a fantastic crowd.
A switch hitting center fielder like Bernie Williams would be a must have on any squad. His All-Star card would probably ply like a Finest Marte card.
