Change Jersey Number

Most likely a veteran player already has your number. Just like real life, the older guy isn’t giving his number up to a rookie. If you don’t like the number they gave you, just click My Player on the Road to the Show locker room screen and change your main number from 7 to something that isn’t already taken. If the other guy wearing 7 gets traded or leaves then just switch it back to 7.
This happened to me when I got to the majors and I figured someone else had the number.
Then about 2 months later I suddenly had my number again....for about 4 games then it was flipped back to the incorrect one. Right after that I was running on 3rd base and noticed the 3rd base coach had the same number! An there was and is nothing to change in the player profile, it still lists the original number I had throughout the minors.
Clearly something is wrong but certainly not high on the list of SDS's worries at the moment lol

This happened to me as well.
Strangely not only did my number change but about 2 months in it changed back to the number I wore in AA and AAA. Then about a week later it changed to the wrong number again.
And even more strange was the next game after that I was running on 3rd base and noticed the 3rd base coach had the same number! lolAnd in reference to what Car RamRod mentioned, on the player profile, my number is still my original one so there is nothing to "change back."
Not sure if you understood what I meant about changing. Here’s an example. I got called up to the Mets. I wore 9 in the minors, which on the Mets belongs to Brandon Nimmo. So when I got to the Mets they gave me 10. I didn’t want to be 10, so I went to My Player and changed my number from 9 to 18. Then at the start of my second season, Nimmo was gone from the Mets (traded or free agency, not sure) so I went back into My Player and changed my number back from 18 to 9.

I've been playing since 17 and this was an issue then. I bet it goes back even further than that. Obviously SDS doesn't care about fixing it.

I totally understood what you said. It didn't work for me and on top of that they gave me the same number as the 3rd base coach.

I have my player wearing number 7 but when I got called up to the big leagues it changed me to 8. After September calls up it change my number again to 10.
How is it going with your number?
I just had my number changed AGAIN!
#13 in the minors, #14 when I got called up. #14 starting my second (first full) season, after about 10 games changed back to #13, a couple of games later back to #14 and then about 15 games after that suddenly #15. Then 2 games later back to #13
The funny thing is the 3rd base coach was also #14 while I was wearing it. -

That is odd. Only time I’ve ever had it happen is when another player has my preferred number. I’m
Not sure if the coaches’ numbers matter or not. If I ever run into the same problem, I’m coming right here to let you know about it lol. -

I started as #13 and then over the course of 30 games I was #14, 13, 14, 15, 13. I can't wait to log in later and see what my new number is lol.

LMAO I did see that. Either you found a bug or your team has some wacky trading habits lol

I just started year two on RTTS now wearing 28.
-
My number just randomly changed on me 3/4 into the season. I don't know exactly why, but here's what happened around this time:
- I finally switched back into a two-way player after maxing out my pitching stats in my first 3 years in the majors. Played two games as a RF wearing my preferred #15 with no issues.
- Before my first pitching start as a two-way player, my number somehow went to a worse pitcher who's been on the roster too for years (but not longer than me). I didn't notice I was wearing #16 until my player went on the mound.
- My pitching loadout rates me at 99, but my RF loadout is only at 69 (nice!). Perhaps switching to a loadout with a much lower rating triggered the number hierarchy?

That’s a good possibility. That is also one of the things that stinks about two way players is the multiple load outs but only the active one gets any advancement for each game. The pitching load out seems to go up quicker too.

Maybe the number you want is retired? I just got promoted to the Mariners and I was number 11 when I was called up to the show they changed my number to 13 and no one on the 40 man roster had number 11 so I was miffed for a minute then I remembered to check Seattle's retired numbers and Ken Griffey Jr (24) and Edgar Martinez (11) are the only two on the team
