"Lock" function needed for sharing Created Stadiums
-
You don't have to upload it when you save it. Unfortunately the default option is to upload it to the vault when you save and when you exit. However, you can choose to not upload it. I suspect many, many, many versions of the stadiums in the vault are from people just not realizing the default is to save the stadium to the vault and they just click right through the default. I would say the overwhelming majority of the stadiums in the vault that look to be "pirated" are due to this.
One other thing to consider when uploading stadiums, players, rosters, and logos... when you upload one of these to a vault you are putting your work in a public place for public consumption with no restraints on what the other people can do with it. If you don't want others to download and/or use your work, and possibly modify it, then don't put it in the vault.

I do want others to download and use my work. And I want to do the same with other's work. It seems that it would also be possible to code in something that makes the stadiums not editable to provide basic protection for those who do put in the work to make something cool that others want to use.

I don’t know about others, but I am not interested in stealing your intellectual property, but in order to play with a stadium (play vs cpu) it has to be uploaded to the vault by me.
That seems absurd, but when I save without uploading I get an error and notification that it must be uploaded to use.

That's odd. I can select a stadium from the vault and then select the save option and the game asks me if I want to upload it to the vault. I click no and it saves on my PS5 just fine.

This has been going on for years with roster downloads, far as I know, there has never been anything done about it, so I would say you are SOL on anything changing.

I'm guessing SDS doesn't want people to sell their digital stadiums like WoW characters on eBay.

You HAVE to upload it? That’s pretty dumb... is it so you can play it online? Meaning, so the opponent has it downloaded on his console in a temporary local folder?
What's even dumber? I could not even use one of their example stadiums in DD Play VS CPU without first uploading it. Why would they want thousands of copies of the Field of Dream field uploaded by every user who wanted to use it?

I download a stadium from the stadium vault, save it to my PS5, and can use it in Play Now vs CPU mode or Franchise vs CPU mode no problem. I have also created stadiums on my PS5, didn't upload them, and can use them in Play Now vs CPU mode or Franchise vs CPU mode without uploading them as well. Once it's on my PS5 I can use it in Play Now or Franchise vs CPU without having to upload it.
It sounds like perhaps using created stadiums, regardless of who created them, might be broken for DD Play and possibly other modes (RTTS, etc).

Does SDS respond here to these types of questions? Will a lock function for sharing created stadiums ever be available? i.e. PGA Tour 2k21 which has user-made courses available to be played on, but which can not be saved and shared by others. I've created stadiums, and I am waiting to load them to the vault hoping this is coming in a patch. Is there a way to ask SDS this question?
Edit: I'd like to add that I really, really like the Stadium Creator. I am having a great time with it, and MLB The Show really is the best game ever. Though, I really do hope for the patch really -

I've put MANY hours into creating stadiums which are unique, fun to play, and usable in DD. Currently, others can download my designs, change the name and maybe a detail or two, and then claim the stadium as their own.
There are already many examples of this happening within the vault. Please provide the ability to lock the stadium when sharing to the vault so that people can use the shell of the stadium, but not have access to the bones of the work.
A designer's hard work should not be so easily copied/pasted/stolen by others.I understand u but let’s say I download ur stadium. I still have to upload it to the vault for me to be able to play there.
