On or offline? I wonder what happens when a perfect/perfect pitch meets a perfect/perfect swing? I would assume a squared up foul ball.....hmmmm
No, PP pitch means a better chance of the ball going where you want it but once that ball is released it’s all on the hitter. PP pitch doesn’t cancel out a PP hit. If you PP a ball in the zone it should never go foul.
It depends on what they mean by perfect timing. Is the timing where the ball hits the bat per perpendicular to the hitter, or when the bat is at 180 degrees? Or perfect to where you hit the ball a with the timing that is perfect for that pitch and that location movement?
Lots of physics and math involved.
A pitch on the outside is the plate with downward and outward motion hit with a flat plane to ball would have a ball drifting in a direction away from the hitter wouldn’t it?
No, now you’re splitting hair. A PP should never go foul, then again, the feedback is broke as has been said
I don’t feel it’s splitting hairs. See above tee post. He’s correct and apparently more eloquent than me lol. Anyway it doesn’t matter. It’s a game I was just interested in the physic portion of the convo.
Have a great day.
It’s perfect placement and timing, so it’s safe to assume perfect timing is relative to location

So when I played baseball, if I was doing tee work, where I put the tee depended on the pitch location. If it's a middle pitch, I'm lining up the tee with the front of the plate or basically where my front foot is, if it's an inside pitch I'm placing the tee in front of the plate/in front of my front foot and if I was working on outside pitches the tee would be on the outside of the plate lined up with my belly button. These are what would be considered perfect timing for hitting those pitches as a hitter. I hope SDS would know that and set up PP swings based off of that. Now if SDS has everything set up where a PP is lining up the bat with the ball at around the hitter's front foot then that's where things could be messed up and I hope they would know better than that.
Thank you for saying what I was but with better wordy words. Excellent comment.
Thank you! Ya I think that's why people get the misconception in this game that when they're "early" or "late" on a pitch that's inside or outside that it's good. If SDS has it right, perfect on an inside is where it should be (a little in front of the front foot) and then being early on an inside would mean you're out in front which would be a ball pulled foul most likely. Same with outside pitches but just the opposite. Kind of confusing but this all depends on if SDS actually has the Perfect timing aspect correct. I don't watch all their streams so I really don't know how they have t set up.
-
The only thing that bugs me too is swing timing and PCI location are the main inputs to the function which determines exit velocity, trajectory and batted ball outcomes. You play a game with a bunch of good/good okays (13 PCI placement + good timing = lazy flyball) to hit it on the screws and perfectly timed.... And it's foul?
I don't know. Clearly something is bugged.
-
my only PP foul balls have been when it starts in the playing field and hooks foul at the end. I wonder if the coding is suppose to show when it first touches the barrel & not where it ends up. Also, the only time I do see the PP foul ball, it's on inside pitches. Never see it for outside pitches.

Not all of them, they said it’s fair something like 99.5% or something insane. I have one this year myself, and about 4-5 that showed something else after words. It does happen. Just like my HR off a maxed cap pitcher on a pitch well inside that my PCI wasn’t even touching on HOF.

The 1s I've hit foul, it doesn't say Perfect after it goes foul. Lol

So then it doesn’t look like this. Which clearly shows the 0.05% chance at a PP going foul being a reality.

This has been happening more frequently for me in the past week too.

Some of you are so absurdly annoying. It's clear who's never played a minute of baseball in their lives. The average MLB hitter FAILS 77% of the time. A really good hitter still fails 70% of the time. A MLB player getting a "perfect" swing will get out a lot of times. There's 9 players on the field that can cover a lot of ground...... You all act like a perfect swing means automatic homerun lmao. It's embarrassing.

You must have meant to put this comment on another thread. No one here has said anything about it being wrong that PP’s are outs. We’re saying that perfect timing and perfect bat placement should never equal a foul ball. That makes no sense. Also, it would be 8 on the field that can cover a lot of ground on a squared up ball since the catcher is behind you.

Lmao no your response is EXACTLY why I posted what I did. A perfect swing can still produce a foul ball. The type of pitch will produce spin which directly will impact the balls trajectory off the bat. A perfect swing can still happen on any pitch anywhere. Ever see guy crush a ball just foul? Perfect swing but spin rate, then you factor in other variables such as wind speed, pushes the ball foul. You (and 70% of this forum) are taking the word "perfect" way too literally.

Perfect means timing too. If you pull or push it foul, it definitely wasnt perfect timing. No one here is talking about perfects being a guaranteed hit. That must be another thread. The wind pushing it foul is also a different story.
People in this thread are talking about the perfect sound being given with the perfect visual, but the ball hooking foul. Just because you barrelled it up doesnt make it perfect. The timing is the issue.

You're literally imagining things that were never said and not actually fully reading what was said in this thread because you're obviously one of those people who likes to argue with people just for the sake of argument. First off, there is no where in this thread that says that PP should be a hit. In past PP threads I have argued that PP's should be outs at times because that is how baseball works. I have played enough and watched enough baseball to know that so I don't know why you keep bringing that up when NO ONE has said that in this thread. I'm assuming it's because you just like to argue. Second, when did I say a perfect swing can't produce a foul ball? I said a perfect swing WITH PERFECT TIMING would never produce a foul ball. Unless DD changed this year, there is no wind in DD so that isn't even a factor in this argument.

The definition of perfect is: as good as it is possible to be.
So if the timing is listed as perfect, it is impossible to time it up any better. So, you are saying that you can yank it foul, yet not time it up any better?
I'm not trying to be insulting, but I seriously dont think you are thinking this all the way through.
