Can you parallel boost Showdown opponents?

I was playing the 2nd inning Showdown last night, and faced a pitcher that I had parallel boosted by a couple levels, and his card included the “+2 to all stats” line. Does he just have his normal stats against me, or was I facing a slightly juiced version?
