How many of you game on a TV and how manly game on a gaming monitor? I'm curious as which is better obviously a gaming monitor is going to be better with 1ms response time but can a gaming TV be viable to play on also?

So last year I bought a monitor because my tv’s input lag was too slow for the resolution and fps the game played at on the PS4 pro. This year, I’ve switched back to my tv because the ps5 and the show handles 4k at 60hz. It’s about 23.4 milliseconds of input lag on my tv. Now, this isn’t great by any stretch, but I can hang in there on all star if I have a good connection with my opponent. Monitors generally will get you about 10ms of input lag at that resolution and fps. What are you currently playing on?

There is a big difference is display lag and input lag. That said some if not most modern day tv's can play games just fine. I'm primarily a PC gamer and I have 3 tv's on one rig , mainly for racing games but I also play shooters on the center screen because the size is so big and I have another rig with a 144hz monitor. You will be fine with either as long as the specs are decent.

Everyone has different timing. For me with a monitor I am always early, very early.
To get timing in this game closer to good I have to use a hdtv WITHOUT game mode on.
When they said they changed the timing a little bit in one of the earlier streams I think what they have done is try to get the timing closer to the majority of users who have a TV not in game mode. If you can hit on a monitor great, same with a TV with game mode on.
I just feel like I don't have the fastest reaction times on earth but if I play on a monitor I am fouling off 98mph fastballs with very early timing and it's annoying.

I've used a 32" curved Asus monitor with 1ms with my ps4 pro. Loved it. I'm currently on ps5 using an LG CX 55" which is the top rated gaming TV on rtings.ratings. again, love it but I have to use the controller with the USB connected or timing is weird. Which is best for you will depend on how well you can personally adjust to the variances.

I've been trying not to go to a monitor as I really enjoy relaxing on my couch and playing on the big screen. I just bought a 55" Samsung Q80T. This is between 5-9ms input lag in game mode and kind of advertised as the best (affordable) TV for gaming thats avaialble. I've only just set it up yesterday so still fiddling with it a bit, but already in my first online games i'm early on everything so i need to adjust to the quickness. But I can deifnitely feel the difference, and it's feeling pretty good so far.

If you have a decent modern tv you don’t need a monitor. If you have an old tv it’s gonna be a big difference.
I’ve played this years on a LG CX, Vizio oled, tcl 5 series and it played fine on all of those. The tcl isn’t an expensive tv by any means either. That’s my 10 year old sons tv.
I mainly play it on a 27 inch monitor because it’s in the other room and away from everyone -

Depends on the player tbh, I was good on TV but not the greatest, I’m now playing on a gaming monitor and my stats have increased and it’s extremely easier to time up balls and see balls, I also use meter for pitching so it’s great for me. I love it. I recommend monitor but it will take a bit of practice to get used to it. If you get a monitor set up a custom practice and set difficulty to legend, that’ll help you recognize and tell the difference.

If you have a TV made more recently they are nearly as good as any monitor. My 65" q80t has 9.8ms input lag at 4k. If the game supported 120hz it would be at 5ms. I hardly notice a difference using it or my monitor for my PC.

I I am currently playing on a Asus 1080p 120 Hertz vp249qgr monitor as for the TV Vizo D series D43fxF4 so I switch back and forth between them

I heard the LG CX was good to game on but it's too expensive I'm on a tight budget so I'm thinking about picking up a TCL 5 Series specifically the s535. TV is 4K 60 but I have an Xbox series s and I heard that it doesn't support 4K it upscales 4K though

I bet my TV has better input lag than whatever monitor you're using. And it has true 4k at 60 fps an hdmi 2.1 hookup and 65 inches of glory. Oh and a speaker. What you rocking with? Wanna play??

If you’re playing on series S, that TV would be perfect for you. Cheap and performs well for gaming

That's a great TV for gaming. For the price its honestly a steal. I just bought one for my oldest son and he hasn't lost a ranked game in almost a week. He's like 12-0 on that thing lol

i use both. Alienware 1080p 240mhz monitor with g sync, 1 ms and my TV which is a TCL 6 series geared towards gaming.
Honestly can't tell the difference except it looks better on the tcl. Xbox series S .

Dude I'm not a console noob, I have TVs for watching sports and Netflix. I'm a PC gamer, I have a 34" Ultrawide Monitor...I basically own a PS4 only for The Show and I play it on my monitor and obviously I gatta play it in 16:9 on my UW Monitor like I'm living in 2005, how the heck these "Next Gen" consoles didn't support 21:9 ratio is beyond me. And my computer has a 500 watt 5.1 where I switch over to my PS4 with an optical switch when I'm playing The Show.
