Ken Giles LS now a Free Agent?
-
Interesting to see CP Ken Giles removed from the Mariners Roster. He is still on the team (2 year contract this offseason) but out for year with Tommy John, which they knew when they signed him.
I'm not sure I've ever seen a player taken off a roster like this. (Well, Jose LeClerc I suppose as well, who is hurt and still a Ranger) If that is the case, shouldn't Kirby Yates be taken off the Blue Jays since he is out for season as well? And what about Nick Anderson from the Rays?

SDS hasn’t figured out how to handle players that are removed from the 40 man roster but still on the team.

Chris Sale and Justin Verlander want you to hold their beers.

There is a chance they might return this season though......

He was moved to the 60 day IL, thus removing from the 40 man. SDS has done this before when guys get moved off the 40 man, they move them to free agents section. Not sure they do it consistently though
-
Kirby Yates is on the 60 Day IL and done for the season
https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/blue-jays-kirby-yates-shifts-to-60-day-il/Nick Anderson is on 60 Day IL, trying to re-hab without surgery, so I kind of get that one. But using that logic, Yates should be a Free Agent.

If someone leaves the 40 man they go to the free agent pool. Not sure why Yates is still on the Jays roster.

Diamond team collection reward, that is why.
