I was wondering if I was the only one who had 2-seamers get demolished every time I leave one in the zone....
-
Was crushing high an in sinkers last night with a mostly lefty lineup but I still hate em

I tried but I'm stuck w like 2 righties and my switch guys who I don't mind really

Yep high sinkers all day baby. Cause in real life pitchers throw sinkers high in the zone that still rip up and then down as If they're thrown low....

Can they finally fix those pitches? if you throw a sinker up, it should be as flat as a fastball. Cutter shouldn't act like circle change ups that we're constantly early on. The curve is still useless and the slider is mediocre now. 2 seamer is a garbage pitch in this game.
So pathetic that a pitcher needs a sinker and cutter to be effective in this game.
The worst part is that they're aware of this and give pitchers pitches they don't even have to make them viable online.
They started MLB 20 this way, and I agreed with it, but it made it really predictable and very much limited where you could put any pitch.
It's a tough mixture. This change allowed for pitches to not just be obvious.
IMO - these guys that they have sinkers for usually have a lot more run on their fastballs IRL. It'd be nice to see an introduction of a running fastball. Very few guys truly have "straight" fastballs. They run, they cut, they rise. At least the really effective ones do.
I don't disagree with you, but pretty much any pitcher higher than the middle was a dinger to start last year, and any pitch lower than half was super easy to read if it was leaving the strike zone.
It's a tough problem to solve. Anyone saying "it's simple" with a fix in response to this is wrong. All methods have weaknesses to exploit.

I don't personally think any pitch is unusable. Some here have said curves and 2 seamers are useless.
Two seamers are designed to be used on same handed hitters, in on the hands. It starts away and moves towards the hand that threw it (right HP, the pitch moves right). They are incredibly useful for jamming guys up, but you have to know how to use them.
Curve balls are fantastic, but you need to dot them at the bottom of the zone....after guys chase them out of the zone. They sit there all proud of themselves for not swinging, then...dot, strike three.
Pitching is a chess match. Be smarter than your opponent and all pitches are great.

Flat sinkers at the top of the zone mean they're unusable. Slower fastballs. Same with cutters last year to start. They went from the two easiest pitches in the game to the two hardest pitches in the game. I'm sure it's been very tough to find the in between as developers is all I'm trying to say.

But also to your note, the introduction of pinpoint allows these pitches to be used much more like they should be used in real life. So maybe it's more fine to bring back flatter sinkers and less slow cutters

I've never stood in a batters box and faced a 96 MPH sinker high in the zone, so I can't say what that's like. But a sinker is a type of 2 seam fastball, and both feature a huge amount of spin. Lower arm slot creates more spin from your index/middle finger, and this spin creates the movement.
The altitude of the ball being thrown does not change the spin or trajectory of the pitch thrown. A 7 foot guy and a 5 foot guy can get the same spin and movement on a pitch, thus the location does not change the movement.
That's physics my dude.

Take someone like German Marquez in this game, to me his sinker looks more like a running fastball as it seems to have nearly as much lateral movement as vertical, especially when thrown above the belt.
Personally I think they label it a sinker but with some pitchers, it's different.

If you leave ANYTHING in the zone, it will get demolished.

I very rarely complain about this game, but high sinkers literally make my blood boil. If you want to get in my head, just throw an up and in sinker.
How about this as a compromise...when you make World Series or make legend, let all the really good guys play this unreal form of baseball. You unlock a sinker and cutter with your WS banner.
Enough complaining from me. Thus truly is the only thing that bugs me about this game.

Yeah I'm well aware of how physics works, thanks. Go check my other posts before assuming I'm a moron. I'm not discussing the science, nor is the others who are complaining. We're describing the visual of the optics.
In game, in order for a sinker to "sink" the way they have it programmed, it first "lifts" a little first and then dips. That lift, is not how a ball comes into the plate IRL.
I have received sinkers as a catcher and have also thrown them as a pitcher. Yeah, I don't have the dip nor the spin rate major leaguers have, but I can tell you that "spin" you're talking about doesn't involve the ball going up first before coming down. Therefore, the visual of it should be flatter.
Best of luck being condescending somewhere else.

They used to have running FBs in the game, don’t remember when that went away?

I think they still do, my two way RTTS guy had the option of learning/adding a running fastball at least. ️

They're still there, just never marketed - I'm guessing because the physics isn't pure enough for them
-
@halfbutt_PSN I can concur with your statement as if I miss it ain't coming back and is usually no less than 400 foot away. I'm on xbox and an older player so I haven't played around with pinpoint yet. I'm using pure analog and I miss by a tick and it is cya later. I have noticed the really good players hit it no matter where you throw it. I was throwing my cutter up and in and getting it crushed and who knew you were supposed to low and outside lol. I'm taking my beatings online and winning a few but it can only help me get a little better.
