Way too much offense

@PAinPA yes I agree with you most of that is true but maddux, oswalt, etc, shouldn’t be hanging half of their pitches right down the middle. Also, mistakes are definitely not punished every time irl cause it’s way harder to swing a bat than to hit X. So they need to nerf hitting a little bit to account for that.
-
The timing window is way off. They should've altered pitch speeds and shrunk the PCI instead of messing with the timing window. Looking at players with .800 winning percentage, a small change made by SDS should not change the game so drastically. Before the patch, nobody was striking, I've played multiple games where my opponent has struck out 17-20 times...

@Rambo_11k why would you not want it to be the best it can be? To me it’s not fun when going an inning without scoring is a huge failure.
I do want it to be the best. That’s why I’m upset they ruined it after 2 days, it was really good besides the pitching. But apparently players were having too much fun and getting “unrealistic” numbers so they took that away from us.
I don’t know, I’m not very good so when I square up a pitch I want it to mean something. Not be thrown into a dice roll and the game determines what happens, same with pitching. User input should always come first in video games, otherwise we’re just stuck with pushing some buttons and watching the script play out.
-
@Rambo_11k i agree but in my experience I’m still getting insanely high scoring games even after the patch. The realism aspect is manageable, it’s just really frustrating to pitch when I throw a perfectly timed changeup in the dirt and it gets destroyed. You can’t really pitch around guys because every few pitches they just lay it in there. On both sides.
-
Increasing pitch speeds and pitching accuracy is the right way to fix this. Nerfing the hitting is not.
-
@flukehr-mitch agreed except that people underestimate how much easier it is to hit in a video game than it is in real life, so maybe nerf isn’t the right word, but make it difficult to get the pci on the ball.

no they should not be hanging half their pitches ,but I did mention that control needs to be fixed. also I don't consider these versions to be elite dominant starters- there /9s are in 70s or so going up against 80-100+ con/pwr guys, they are overmatched by the great hitters so far.
-
@PAinPA thats fair. Control definitely needs to be fixed. But don’t you think it’s too easy to track pitches? Even if it’s right at the bottom of the zone wouldn’t you agree it’s not difficult to see it and get the pci to it? In real life 100 mph sinker at the knees is not going anywhere.

Didn't they say /9's or some of them didn't factor into play? I can't remember

@JEEZY-E last year was the first year that hr/9 mattered, but people didn’t like it so they got rid of it mid-season. Not sure if it’s back this year. All the others matter I’m pretty sure. Anyone know about hr/9?

So far I think SDS did an amazing job with the game, but I’m really frustrated with the amount of runs scored in DD games. All of my games are like 15-14. It’s just not baseball. It’s way less fun because it feels like a home run derby and the winner is the one who happens to clear the wall one more time rather than fly out to the warning track. I think the problem is it’s way too easy to punish mistakes. Every pitch that doesn’t dot the corner is a bomb, which is reasonable, except that even the guys with the best control are consistently missing spots very badly. In real life it’s so much more difficult to square up major league pitches, so the game should reflect that. Since it’s just pressing a button and moving the left stick rather than actually swinging a bat, I think it needs to be more difficult to hit, especially hit it hard.
there is to much offense because no one is allowed to locate their pitches, if they let us throw our pitches in the spot or in the general vicinity of where we spotted them than you wouldn't have endless BP every game. But instead you are punished for good pitching input, IMO this game is unplayable in a competitive sense right now thanks to the enforced hanger every 8-10 pitches. And sorry SDS I am not going to walk 24 batters a game because "your supposed to pitch around power hitters" to avoid hanging pitches.
Again can't really say I expected much from a development company that had its "partners" and community mouth piece both caught on stream insulting their consumers.

Funny. I’m able to hold my opponents to barely any runs at all.
One experience isn’t the same as the other.
-
@JEEZY-E overall I think SDS is doing a great job but I agree with you on gameplay

gameplay is 90% of their job, so if gameplay or at least one of the main aspects of gameplay is broken than they aren't doing that great of a job. Can release all the content you want but if its locked behind broken gameplay its pretty useless to me.

@allmustfall16 how many usually? Can’t tell if ur being sarcastic, sry if ur not.

I’m 20-5 in ranked and think I only gave up a lot of runs in 2 of those games.
-
@allmustfall16 if that’s the case then sounds good. Obviously experiences are different. I feel like the higher up you are the more offense there is. I think great offense outweighs great pitching which is the opposite irl. The #1 player in the world right now has an ERA of about 6. Literally.

Most of that was pre patch though.
Hitting does not need to be any harder. If anything, they should roll back everything they patched and just tweak pitch speeds. If they raised pitch speed with the new hitting post patch, then that would be legit cancer.
If they completely reverted hitting back to pre patch, then they could raise pitch speeds. They can’t do it with the way it sits now.

I am not giving up a ton of runs, I just don't have the patience to sit their and watch as my good input is punished, regardless whether my opponent hits the hanger my pitcher is forced to throw, it shouldn't be happening to begin with. SDS creates its own messes, its own criticism, by not listening to its community, we asked for them to increase pitching control, so they messed with hitting, now half the community is up in arms about hitting, had they just tweaked pitcher control everyone would be happy, you would have a balanced competitive game. now they have a glorified game of batting practice, who can wait for the enforced hanger the longest.
-
@allmustfall16 i haven’t noticed a difference post patch tbh but hopefully not enough games yet to tell. Do you know if the patch applies to custom leagues as well because that’s where I’ve been playing most of my games since the patch.
