    Not great news here. I run multiple different "loadouts" - one for each archetype that I am working on. Playing CF. Normally I go with my "Cool Papa" which is a speed based build. But on a whim, decided to play a series with my "Crime Dog" loadout which is a power based build. Play a series, in the first game I selected "Crime Dog" which was not my active profile at the time. That made it active and in games 2 and 3 stayed with "Crime Dog". I did well in all three games.

    At the end of series, you get the menu which shows progression. I hit R1 to see my Archetype progression (as compared to the default Program Progression) and it shows none. Now, normally I expect this screen to show me my progress towards the archetype for the last game of the series only (would be nice if it showed the whole series, but I guess we take what we can get). In that last game, I went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI, a walk, and a HBP. I also had several putouts in center field (at least 4 or 5). So it showing no progression caused alarm.

    Checking my "Crime Dog" program status, the following are repeatable tasks:

    • Plate Appearances - my current status is 28/40;
    • Extra Base Hits - my current status is 0/15;
    • Hits - my current status is 0/25;
    • Assists - my current status is 23/30;
    • Putouts - my current status is 1/30;

    I'm thinking "this is strange - in that last game alone, my PA's should have gone up 4, my Hits gone up 1, and my Putouts gone up at least 4 or so".

    So I play another series. Before the series starts (trying to duplicate what just happened) I make "Cool Papa" my active Archetype. I then choose Crime Dog again each game. Game #1 I go 0 for 4 with a couple putouts, Game #2 I go 2 for 4 with a double and a four putouts, Game #3 I go 1 for 4 with a double and a four putouts. So total for the series: 3 for 12, 2 XBA's, and 10 putouts. Hit "return to clubhouse" and at the Rewards menu I see I've earned XP and caps for the 2nd Inning Program, but hit R1 to see Progress and I again see "No Program Progress made".

    I get back to clubhouse, go to my player, check program repeatable tasks and see the following:

    • Plate Appearances - my current status is 32/40 (increase of 4);
    • Extra Base Hits - my current status is 0/15;
    • Hits - my current status is 0/25;
    • Assists - my current status is 23/30;
    • Putouts - my current status is 3/30 (increase of 2);

    Conclusion: Only the first game of the series counted towards Archetype progression!! Thanks SDS - you fixed equipment and screwed off progression again!!!! So danged frustrating.

    Edit history - changed title of main subject so as to be less alarming. Bottom line - do not use the pause men and then "next appearance" to advance time in-game. Use settings menu instead.

    Been tracking for me the last three hours.

    Don't know what to tell you.

    I should add, I always return to the clubhouse after each game.

    Happened to me and this was why. You can’t sim anything anymore. Usually I’ll sim a base running situation to next appearance if I don’t want to run. But if you do that then nothing in the game will count. Stopped sim-ing and now working fine. Just changed base running situations to action pitches only to just skip them altogether.

    So I've tried a couple different things. Tried doing just one game at a time. And intermittently would get progress, after several games gave up on that as a solution. Then I tried deleting all my loadouts and using just one brand new loadout. Played a whole series and got zero progression.

    @rosborn27_PSN - you bring up an interesting point. I have been choosing to pause the game and choose "next appearance" when I'm in a running situation where I don't want to steal the next base. But I leave it on "all pitches" typically for when I do want to steal a base. I'll try some games with baserunning off or set to action pitches and see what happens.

    I’m only using one load out still with no others so I haven’t seen an issue. But based on how the OP described the issue that makes sense. What if you go to clubhouse after each game and change your active profile to what you plan to use that next game?

    Huge thanks to @rosborn27_PSN !!! I think he nailed it.

    Just validated that if you use the pause menu and then "next appearance" you basically forfeit your progress for your archetype. Not sure if this is by SDS design or by accident - I tend to think the later.

    However, if you play with baserunning opportunities turned off, or turned to action pitch only - everything works fine. Where I think this could cause a lot of players a problem - if you are trying to level up a speedster archetype. You are going to want to have lead baserunning turned on and probably all pitches so you aren't trying to steal a base too late in a pitch count. But once you've stolen your base and you're happy where you are - do you really want to sit through a 10-pitch CPU at bat? Probably not. So you hit pause and next appearance and you screw yourself out of archetype progression.

    I've found a work-around by trial and error. Use pause then settings then RTTS. You can change on the fly your baserunning settings. So, say you have gotten to third base via two steals from first and don't want to sit through 10 minutes of watching your CPU teammates flail around - go back to mode options and set it none. Then when you take your next AB, before you swing, set it back to "lead runner" and "all". Wash-rinse-repeat.

    Kind of a crummy work-around but hopefully this information helps someone.

    I’ve had my base running set to action pitch only the whole time I’ve had the game.

    @SGMRock_XBL - have you attempted to level up a speedster that way? Not fun. You take off to steal and the batter swings away. But then when I'm playing my "slugger" or any archetype wherein I don't care about stolen bases, then I usually just turn baserunning off. Speeds up the game quite a bit.

    Didn’t think of that. Makes sense.

    Wish there was an option to play all running opportunities while on 1st base and action the rest.

    Yeah, well, I was using the "next appearance" option to do that and guess that wasn't such a great idea. But yeah, would be a great enhancement to the game - when on 1st and lead runner, play all but when anywhere else, skip or play only action pitches.

    I’m guessing they consider that simulating your current base running, and simulating anything seems to give no progress.

    Is this really only a problem when trying to switch between Archs? I'm wondering if I stay consent to one Arch type and do the start then next appearance if it would mess up progression, becuase you are right having the game on Lead Runner/All pitches takes much longer.

    @deepsouth06_XBL - I was able to duplicate this using only one Arch. As far as I can tell, if you use "next appearance" from the in-game menu, you will not get your Archetype progression.

    Need this fixed. Not trying to play all base running opportunities/pitches but need to steal.
