Is hitting a home run random?

Just like the title says I've been trying to complete one moment for the Jason giambi Evolution where i have to hit a homerun. I've been at this for hours and its seem impossible for me to hit the ball just right where it fly's over the fence can anyone give me advice on when the perfect time to hit the ball?

It’s def. not random. You get a fat pitch and square it up with the right timing and you should smoke it. I usually know when I hit a HR right as a swing for it

Wait on a high fastball and get good timing, shouldn't matter which batting method you use either, it's about pitch selection and timing.

I often feel like the hitting is random. There are times I hit the ball with the right timing and don't get a hit (let alone a HR). I should be able to get hits on breaking balls too (not just waiting for a fastball).

In the moment he seemed to only hit it in the air on inside or pitches up.everywhere else was liners for me.
