I try to steal with someone yo get them into scoring position. But instead of taking the base they stop half way and just sand there?

If you hit R2 on your controller while they are running this happens. Not saying this is the case in your situation, but could be.

I wish I could figure out how to steal with runners on the corners. Whenever I send the runner at 1st to steal 2nd, the guy on 3rd goes home

I know that this has been an issue with classic baserunning for several years. Every year when they ask for community feedback I would bring this up and it just got ignored so I gave up asking.

So the same stick that controls my PCI? So I can’t hit and run? That doesn’t make sense to hold it there... I’ve tried to just press it in that direction, but haven’t been holding it there because I still have to hit

️Not sure about the default baserunning option, but I use Classic, and to steal with only 1 runner, you have to hold down the button of the base that runner is on before pressing R2. So in that case you would hold down "B (xbox) / O (ps)" then press R2/RT. If you want to perform a manual steal then you do it the same way, but press and hold R2/RT then release when you want him to leave. However you don't have to hold B/O the entire time while doing a manual steal.
Another words just make sure your holding the button of the base before you press R2, if you try to do it at the same time it never works.

You hold it prior to the pitch and a yellow circle type thing will appear on the runner you're controlling manually. So first to second you would hold the left stick towards first base and hold steal button for a moment. Let go and it will be engaged then you can hit

Nope. Not it. Just did it again.
Hit the steal button and put down my controller. Gut ran half way to second and then just stood there.

Nope. Not it. Just did it again.
Hit the steal button and put down my controller. Gut ran half way to second and then just stood there.
You know putting down the controller can accidently trigger L2 or R2, right? Done it myself a few times.
