My Ballplayer Secondaries are not working

I am currently at "The Duke" in my ballplayer and it says his secondary position is First Base. In his preferred positions, first base is listed as one of them. He has worked fine for 8 games and then this last game he suddenly stopped working. He dropped 2 balls on throws from the second baseman on 2 easy ground outs. I switched him to left so he wouldn't cost me the game and he worked just fine in is primary position. Anyone have any suggestions on what happened and how to fix it? All his equipment and loadout worked so I'm wondering if it was just a bug or something.
