- Does using causal mode in DD (ie conquest/vs cpu) reduce XP or after game drop odds.
- Can you play MTO using casual mode and still get affinity rewards and are they the same?
- Are pitch speeds and pitch breaks the same in casual mode?
1.) The drop % depends on difficulty setting. The xp is supposed to be same regardless where you play unless it specifies in reward.
2.) Casual mode is when you pick a team and play CPU or Buddy it has no after game drops as far as i know. MTO Rewards are based off difficulty setting (Dynamic is best if you are new to mode)
3.) You have used phrase casual mode in all 3 questions so not sure what you are asking on 3rd question.
Playing CPU in DD is still DD just called vs CPU. If this is what you meant for 3rd question then it is based off of difficulty chosen. Hope this helps.
I’ve been playing since 2016, I understand how the game works. I was specifically hoping SDS could clarify some questions about their “new” casual mode.
Ok
He's talking about the way you can pick how you want to play the game. I think the three options are: Casual, Simulation, and Competitive.
We'll probably know more with the stream next week.

Don't quote me on this, but I bet 'Causual' mode is directed towards offline players. So anything that would be H2H wouldn't be offered.
But I could be wrong.

The three options to me refer to "setting" not mode that's what threw me off. Casual mode is the one where you play your buddies. It's cool i was just trying to help no biggie.

There is still the difficulty levels, rookie, vet etc but then there is game types. Casual, simulation and competitive. Competitive is for all online modes regardless of level or online mode except maybe leagues, they have said anything about that yet.
I would think they will touch on what modes you can play in when playing things like conquest or moments buy I would doubt you can play casual in any of those. Moments I would assume will be simulation.
This of course is just a guess.

My understanding is simular to what you are saying.
Any PVP will be competitive.
Any DD vs CPU will be simulator along with difficulty setting.
And any offline can be set to simulator/casual and will also coincide with what difficulty level you set. That was how I understood it.
As far as MTO goes i think it is just based off of difficulty setting.
Custom leagues is probabally gonna be able to choose any of the 3 choices when initially setting up. I could be wrong but that is what custom means so i dunno. I hope OP gets his questions answered.

They’ve clarified that competitive is the “default” head to head but that’s really all they clarified.
What you are saying def makes sense and that’s how I would think it was going to be done but I’m still not 100% sure because think about it —
if you PICK COMPETITIVE as a style — and then you jump into a DD moment... if it’s predetermined what each thing is going to be — why let you pick the setting in the first place? Feel me?
-
These "modes" are just a description of "pre-set" game settings and options.
Everything is the same, it's just a fancy way of taking pre-sets that you eventually customize anyway
For online play, many settings are unavailable. Ball trailing being one.
Interfacing for hitting and pitching mechanics will remain. Online play will likely allow classic pitching, zone hitting etc.

They already answered that you can use it in conquest/play vs cpu and custom leagues. They were vague on whether you can for showdowns and moments: https://theshow.com/mlb-the-show-21-hitting-pitching-extended-qa/

Casual mode for DD; is it just conquest/play v cpu or can we please use it for moments/showdowns as well?
The casual gameplay style setting can also be used in Custom Leagues.
Thats what it says.... they didn't deny using it in showdowns or moments. Could make them way easier

Fair enough. As long as they adjust xp accordingly i have no problem with it.

I don’t see why they should reduce xp or rewards based on the setting you choose. It’s not like any of these offline games are hard to win now, it’s more a matter of how you want to have fun than difficulty.

And i don't think a person playing on rookie should get same xp as the guy who plays on legend. Each difficulty should have xp reflect how hard of a difficulty they play on.
There is more to it than that. When you are aquiring rewards for DD there has to be a difference in rewards to difficulty ratio, otherwise what's the point of difficulty settings? Everyone would just play on rookie mode then.

Ok, but xp has been the same across difficulty levels for a while now. The reason you don’t play on rookie is so that you aren’t terrible in H2H. And if you don’t play H2H, then who cares about so.
XP are not a function of how good you are at the game, they are a function of how much time you spend playing the game .

For some people offline might be hard, you can't say it ain't hard as a generalization.
-
I am always looking out for new or lesser skilled players on these forums. But I too would like to see more XP go to offline players who play at higher difficulty levels. Especially in conquest. But that could be because I play in higher difficulty levels as it’s more fun and challenging. I could be biased here.

What i am saying across the board xp should be determined by difficulty level. Not based off of Casual,Simulator, or Competitive.
I don't know the statistics, but if i were a betting man i would say 60 - 70% people play vs CPU on rookie/veteran which means easier grind to xp reward path. By increasing xp based off of difficulty would push people to perhaps get better for H2H. As it is now you could call it a crutch so to speak. B/c there is no incentive to play on harder mode.
You do earn more xp based off of things you do in game i'm pretty sure. Hr's are a certain amount,Triples, doubles, strike outs. I'm pretty sure you get extra xp for that stuff. I could be wrong but i thought for sure you did?

First, why do you even care how much xp people get, it has no impact on you at all.
Second, I believe xp is given more by pitch than by result. You will get far more xp in an inning where you see 25 pitches but score 1 run off a walk and single than you do in an inning where you see 6 pitches and hit 3 home runs.

I don’t think it’s biased. Being rewarded more for something more challenging makes a lot of sense imo

It’s a matter of game integrity to me. When things are more challenging then it’s harder to accomplish — there is no reason to play on certain difficulties offline if the reward is the same.
