I know our ps4 progress will transfer to the ps5 once some people get one, but will we be able to hop back and forth between consoles and continue our progress? Only asking because I plan on having a ps5 in one room and a ps4 in the other, sometimes it would be more convenient for me to play in the room where my ps4 is.

For DD, yes.that is all saved server side.the only thing that dont is settings,like difficulty pitch/hit imput etc.
RTTS franchise and MTO are saved to console so you'd have to move those back and forth either through USB stick or cloud save.
