There’s a reason shooter tournaments have console controller and mouse and keyboard separately.. it’s a huge advantage to use a mouse and keyboard
For shooters yes, obviously. There is an entire screen where you can freely move the mouse around for pinpoint accuracy. Not to mention the recoil control to just pull the mouse slightly down.
Now back to this game, where you have to deal with this little box of the strike zone and on top of that the tight feeling PCI that automatically re-centers after every slight movement. It's a totally different world comparing this to shooters and I honestly believe a mouse would actually work counterproductive for this game.

I'd say it's not so much about the placement but more about recognizing the pitch type and location and then knowing the path the pitch will travel and where it'll end up in the zone. From there it's just subtlety with the thumb towards that location instead of slamming the PCI what so many people do. It's hard to explain because it's a feeling or a sense sort of speak that you develop by seeing a gazillion pitches and swinging at a gazillion more.
This is it 100%. I'm always in the right area for the pci but I can't stop jamming the stick all the way and I miss it. If I could ever stop doing that, I'd be a pretty good hitter in this game lol
I don’t use zone, but I think they should give you guys the option for the pci not to re-center itself when you let go of stick. I think that would keep a lot of you from slamming it down if it worked like that. For example, whatever spot you move it to, it stays until you move it.
If they did this ppl would be able to use a mouse and keyboard using an adapter and that would be terrible.
Why? Couldn’t they already do that if they wanted too?
No mouse and keyboard would not work in the show because of how the pci reverts back to the center— this stops mouse users from being able to use a mouse option because mice are free roam. So if you were to try mouse and key board with a game like the show. The pci wouldn’t move fluidly — it would jump and jitter
However if you took that spring back to the center movement away then mouse users would abuse the game. — imagine being able to point and aim a mouse as a pci on a ball? You’d have mnk players making top 10 in WS easily.
I wouldn’t care if someone used a mouse. They already do in plenty of other games. I think without adding the option to make it free roam you alienate a lot of people that would prefer that. Again, doesn’t effect me, but people that use zone should have the option.
Imagine taking a guy like rebel who already is the best player in the world hitting .400 and then giving him a mouse, dude would be hitting .800
Ok, so the best players are still the best players then, it isn't an unfair advantage, it can't be an advantage if everyone has access to it.

I am not good at hitting, but if they made it any easier, there would be guys who would make it to ws without ever playing past the 3rd inning in any game

Make sure you move L3 before swinging; seems dumb but happens to me a lot if I don’t remind myself on those 98+ mph fastballs. I’ll often jam the stick at the same time I press X, and the feedback will show my PCI dead centre. You have to move your stick a microsecond before committing
Same for me. And my right thumb always seems to be faster than my left when I'm trying to go up in the zone. High Fastball, PCI doesn't move. At my Knees, PCI is as far down as it can go.

Totally agree and would also like to add: if you initially choose a certain part of zone don't deviate from it. It's okay to take a strike in the zone, b/c if you chase it generally becomes a weak hit or double play due to reaction + location.

As far as mouse vs controller, I own people on shooters with a controller when they have a mouse. Some of the best at shooters in the world use a controller. Yes, most use mouse, but I think it’s more of a psychological thing more than anything. They are used to what they are used to. It doesn’t destroy competition, it would enhance it. Again, I don’t use zone anyway, so I have an unbiased opinion on the matter.

Actually they wouldn’t likely allow mouse and keyboard but if you stopped the bounce back it would make ppl mod mouse and keyboard — there is a huge group of players that have been trying to mod their way to mouse and keyboard on mlb the show with adapters — the hurdle they have is the bounce back effect on the pci. It makes it so mouse and keyboarders have no been able to Mod their way into this game.

It’s not about customization. It’s about adapters that are readily available waiting for this to change so they can exploit the game with mouse and keyboard undetected because it’s a ghost adapter that plugs into the console.
So even if mlb the show banned mouse and keyboard and added this feature. Mouse and keyboard modders would exploit it.

Not being able to control the pci the way you want is ridiculous. Should be fixed for the people that use zone.
Yeah, I mean if people are going to worry so much about mouse users, then allow the rubber band effect to be turned off vs CPU.
We should really get this message across to devs. I don’t even use zone, but I think it’s ridiculous you guys that do can’t adjust how you want it to work.
I am always for more customization and people being allowed to play the game the way they want, buy the competitive players do not tend to feel this way, they seemed to be concerned too much on how it is going to hurt them online.

You aren’t understanding it’s not “competitive” it is literally unfair. There are games that do not allow for mouse use because it is unfair. Mlb the show would absolutely be one of those games. Mouse use would destroy the competitive online.

I understand that you don’t want people to customize their pci the way they want. Most people would still use a controller to play this game. As far as mouse vs controller, I own people on shooters with a controller when they have a mouse. Some of the best at shooters in the world use a controller. Yes, most use mouse, but I think it’s more of a psychological thing more than anything. They are used to what they are used to. It doesn’t destroy competition, it would enhance it. Again, this don’t use zone anyway, so I have an unbiased opinion on the matter.
Shooters are a whole different animal. Brah. You are talking about being able to point and click at an image coming in on your screen. Do realize how insanely easy that would be?? Forcing people to use a thumb for a pci is why it’s so hard. If I could point and click a mouse at the ball the difficulty dramatically decreases.
You know this. It’s why you are asking for it imo.

lol. So the ability for someone to customize their pci ruins it for you uh? Like I said, I don’t use zone, so no effect on me. You seem worried that some how you will not perform as well, which is interesting.
It’s not about customization. It’s about adapters that are readily available waiting for this to change so they can exploit the game with mouse and keyboard undetected because it’s a ghost adapter that plugs into the console.
So even if mlb the show banned mouse and keyboard and added this feature. Mouse and keyboard modders would exploit it.
